"Professional and Knowledgeable, Highly Recommend We developed a leak in our roof and while we could have delayed getting new shingles, we decided to shop around for a new roof and attic ventilation. We obtained four quotes from local companies: One selling Atlas rubber shingles was a little pricey and the quote process seemed to focus on a pretty presentation including a Go-Pro video. However, we were not impressed with what seemed to be a lack of substance and expertise (salesman had no roofing experience). We also did not like the roof-edge ventilation system as it did not seem like an optimal solution. They also bad-mouthed their competition, telling me if I could get the job done for less, the contactor was lying to me. I don’t think so. Quote competitively, stand behind your quote confidently and trust your prospective customer will make the right decision. Another company sent out a representative that again seemed to lack detailed knowledge. I don’t think he even climbed up on the roof. We also learned they use sub-contracted crews to do their installs, not their own team. Yet another company had far too much fine print in their agreement. It all seemed to be geared toward protecting them, not us. We were most comfortable with Don at Renaissance. Don took the time to do a detailed inspection of the roof AND attics! He clearly possesses the required knowledge and expertise. We feel he gave a frank and honest assessment of our roof and what he thought was the cause of our leak. There were no high-pressure sales tactics and he did not try to up-sell us on unnecessary extras. We felt the quoted price including adding 20+ soffit vents was fair and competitive. Don also provided a quote for only fixing the leak, but we decided to have the shingles replaced instead. Once we hired Renaissance for the new roof, Don came out the same day and provided a temporary fix so we wouldn’t get any more water in the house. That was nice! The Renaissance crew showed up on time and completed the job in a day and half. This included a complete tear-off, nailing down the entire deck (many of the boards were loose), replacing rotten 1x6’s, installing new ridge vents and a complete new GAF roofing system. They also added more than 20 soffit vents and baffles for some much needed attic ventilation. One minor issue was quickly addressed to our complete satisfaction. Our new roof looks great and we love it! Overall, we are completely happy with our experience with Don and Renaissance. No question that we made the right decision. We will definitely recommend them to friends and family for their new roofing needs. We would definitely hire them again. We feel we received a beautiful, solid, high-quality new roof system and ventilation that we will enjoy for many years to come at a price that came in as quoted with no surprises and peace of mind. What more can a homeowner ask for?"

They replaced sagging plywood, installed J channel that should have been there, but was not, and did the flashing around the chimney. They covered the landscaping and used magnets to pick up nails. The guy giving the estimate did not have a hard sales pitch or some stupid slide show on a tablet. They simply quoted the job and let me make a decision with out any pressure. "I recently sought help from Dr. Flue to repair a gap that had formed where mortar around my chimney had apparently eroded over time. From first contact with their office, to the final visit and completion of the work, my experience with Dr. Flue’s staff was exceptional… They took time to understand the issue and provide me a simple cost estimate; scheduled a time to come out and shot me a reminder a couple days ahead of the visit; then showed up on time and prepared. Once onsite, they confirmed the work we had discussed would address the issue I originally reported. Then pointed out some significant chimney flashing issues I was unable to see from the ground. "Had complete roof replaced in July 2009. Recently (September 2015) noticed water spots around two recessed lighting fixtures in a little used second story bedroom. I went into the attic and found the affected recessed lighting and removed insulation and looked at the light fixtures and noticed evidence of water marks around the base of the lights. Had Great Lakes Roofing come out to help assess the cause of the water marks. The likely area of the roof was located that could have leaked and Great Lakes removed several shingles carefully to further inspect the area - shingles were in great shape, the underlying felt was in perfect shape and no source of a leak could be found. There was no obvious evidence of water leakage on the top of the attic insulation. The shingles were reinstalled with new nails with the old nail holes sealed completely. Great Lakes Roofing made several phone calls to Techs that could give their opinion on the source of the water marks - one possible source could be that during the last winter super deep freeze (-25 deg. F. in Clarkston for 3 nights) and with the metal recessed lighting fixtures separating the warm humid interior with the very cold attic that some condensation occurred around the affected light fixtures and caused the water marking. The area will be monitored with the next significant rainy weather pattern. If a leak is spotted,  Great Lakes Roofing will return and see what can be done. The Great Lakes Roofing Inspector spent at least two hours up in the attic and on the roof ...............NO CHARGE!!!! <br /> Besides giving me a very competitive price for the 2009 install and the No Charge service call 6 years later - I highly recommend Great Lakes Roofing! <br />"
