"I began the search for a company to upgrade my kitchen cabinets earlier this year. I read reviews about Kitchen Saver, contacted them for information and made an appointment with the sales rep. Mike, the sales rep was very professional and spent a lot of time explaining their process. He allowed me time to make a decision, and I decided to go forward. A few months later, the cabinet installation by Simon was exceptional. His attention to detail and workmanship was outstanding. He explained what he would be doing each day, what the process would entail, and alerted me when it would "get loud." He was extremely knowledgeable, experienced and competent, and I knew the final product would be beautiful. It was evident that he took great pride in his work. The cabinet refacing turned out beautifully. I am extremely satisfied with the final results and would highly recommend Kitchen Saver to anyone considering kitchen cabinet refacing. Five stars!!"

"Mitchell repaired a drawer that was broken to my bedroom armoire.  He did a great job.  He also repaired the nicks and scratches on my bed, night stands, dresser and a Grandfather clock.  I will definitely use this company in the future. <br />"

"Short review: AAA We HIGHLY recommend Dan Lindner at KBS (we found him @Angie). If you want to know why, please read on. Long review: We have an 85 yo Cape Cod with add-ons. Our project had two parts - complete removal of oak floor and laminate and total rehab of kitchen. Dan sub-contracted and managed the floor install, and did the kitchen with his crew. My review focuses on the kitchen, but I can say that, after a few awkward experiences, particularly managing transitions and color-matching the stairs, the floor (3/4" solid maple "greige" color) looks very nice indeed: the house feels fresh and light, a big improvement. The kitchen is a 9 ft galley style, so the project was not a "big" one. However, old houses present tricky issues and we had our share of surprises. The kitchen was gutted to the bare walls and sub-floor. Then the new floor installed, electrical/plumbing redone, a window cut thru the brick wall, new cabinets and wall tiling, and everything painted, plus appliances installed. Everything completed to our satisfaction in 3 1/2 weeks. Dan did a great job throughout. He kept things moving, but when we encountered problems did not push ahead, but backed off, re-scheduled, and solved the problems. Time was important but a quality job was more so. Example: the kitchen floor was nicely installed, but I managed to put some nasty scratches into it (maple is softer than oak). Rather than just take up the damaged boards, he completely removed all the new kitchen floor and re-installed. His confidence, reliability and good nature kept me - a nervous first-time rehabber - under control, and he knew when to dial down my suggestions if they went over-board (lighting). He kept me informed throughout the process and replied promptly to my texts. When he said he would fix something, he did. And he did more than that - he even did things we hadn't contracted for, but which needed fixing (damaged french door), and greatly improved the look of the house (as well as saving money for us). Throughout this process there was no "nickle-and-dimeing" for unforeseen problems: the total price did not change. This was a big surprise. My wife now walks into the kitchen, and says, "I love it!" Happy wife. Happy hubby. You'll be happy, too. And now onto re-doing our three bathrooms!"

"Fantastic workmanship, planning, and overall execution. The salesman did a nice job in helping select the materials, and oversee details in completing the project on time and without any problems. The carpenter's high level of skill and concern for customer satisfaction was evident from the first day he began working on our kitchen. The electrician completed all the LED under cabinet and ceiling lighting with excellent attention to providing proper light distribution. Overall an outstanding great looking kitchen and a fantastic experience!"

"Issue #1: Started at first meeting in October 2014. Salesperson did NOT and consistently DID NOT HEAR what i was describing to him. Even with a wood sample.  He kept going on and on and the quality of their work. So, to save $10,000 in buying new cabinets we decided upon this option. <br /> Issue #2: Another person came out to finalize the measurements. Apparently Salesperson #1 did not LISTEN to what we wanted with replacing the drawers. They were just going to reface them. This would have left the drawers looking and working unbalanced and uneven and interiors being worn and ugly compared to the rest of the  "new stuff".  Salesperson #2 said it would be $450 extra to replace all the drawers with new ones. Wow. Ok. I needed them to work and look good. My old drawers have become crooked - since they were installed in 1988. I don't know WHY Salesperson #1 didn't suggest that at the initial meeting. <br /> Issue #3: We were to receive samples of the wood we chose and the color we chose. At the initial meeting, we told Salesperson #1 that we wanted a stain with grain showing, not a flat paint! We said this at least 3 times. What do we get as a sample????? Yes, a FLAT painted piece of wood with no grain showing. So, it takes another 2 1/2  weeks to get another sample. <br /> Issue #4: Approved sample. It is now the end of November! They said they wouldn't be able to come install until January! Yes, it took 3 MONTHS for this process start to finish. I could have received NEW cabinets in 6 weeks. <br /> Issue #5: Installation time. They had to build a new cabinet for over the refrigerator. It was clearly CROOKED! The bottom of the cabinet was 1 inch wider by the time you got to the top of the cabinet! AND where  the inside hinges were there clearly was a mistake and was all GNARLED up on the inside! HOW could a "craftsmen" leave such an obvious mess of a creation and not expect us to NOTICE??!?!? Seriously?!  It looked like something a high school shop student did.  We told them to replace the whole thing <br /> Issue #6: They did not tell us during the initial visit that the build-ups of the cabinets to reach the ceilings were just FRAMES! The interior and the back (wall exposed) were not finished. Now the inside of the top shelf of my cabinets are the ugly burnt orange color of the previous paint job. I could have painted that if i had known it would be showing!!!!!!! <br /> Issue #7: Upon final inspection 3 of the drawers were WAY off color to the rest of the cabinets. It looked like they were missing a coat of stain!!!! So, they ordered and replaced them  2 weeks later. <br /> Issue #8: We were provided a can of paint to paint the inside edges of the inside of the frames of the cabinets to match the outside.. really? I have to actually do work  on the cabinets i paid  $15,000 for ????!! <br /> The craftsmanship was definately was under par for what they told us. It seemed like they just wanted to get in and out without really taking a step back and looking at the work. Things still are uneven, but can't do anything b/c the laminate is glued down.  Salesperson didn't even follow up the week the workers were here to check how things were going. Once he received the check, he didn't care. <br /> If I had to make the decision over again, i DEFINITELY would have gone with NEW cabinets. I could have received them in 6 weeks, instead of a total of 3 1/2 months, consistent color, better workmanship and a lot less headaches. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We recently completed a full bathroom remodel and needed cabinets and a vanity custom made due to the small dimensions of the bathroom. Pascal is amazing. Not only were his prices far better than the other quotes we got, but his work is spectacular. We were extremely happy with the cabinets he built, and they fit perfectly in the space. If we ever need any custom woodworking done in the future, we will absolutely go with Pascal again."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Capitol Heights, MD

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
