"I can't say enough good about this company! In the midst of a bad bathroom remodel, they are the only good at this point! They are professional but are so down to earth they could be a friend. They charge a fair price for excellant work. They are on time and clean up after they are done. I will only use them for our plumbing needs!"

"I have had to call many plumbers over the course of 30 years. All of them were competent and they did a good job. I suspect that most plumbers called will probably do a good job. Metropolitan Plumbing is the exception. Ron Hartman ‘s work is and has always been exceptional. What makes him so is that this guy is by far the most intelligent plumber I’ve ever met, and he is an artist. These qualities allow him to see the problem and cheat the gods of Murphy’s Law. I trust only Metropolitan Plumbing. No others. My next project is to remodel my 100 year old bathroom and Mr. Harman will be central in that endeavor."

"Red Box Design is amazing, from their creative and friendly designers to their experienced and professional contractors! Owner, Dean, is an artist! His vision turned my below average and outdated kitchen into a work of art. Mariah, Red Box’s designer has an impressive creative talent! She was able to put the look I wanted together and made it better than I could imagine. Her suggestions on color, chairs and appliances were right-on!! The granite countertops are breathtaking! Additionally, she was so friendly, supportive and always available for input. When I had a slight issue, one of the partners, Matt, came to my house on a Saturday and stayed until it was fixed to my satisfaction! Greg, who installed my cabinets and sinks is a perfectionist! My kitchen cabinets and pantry are beautiful. And he was able to refinish old floor tile I wanted to preserve in the bathroom. And the lighting, bathtub tile and sound system in the bathroom is unbelievable! The staff was friendly and professional, always cleaning up before they left for the night. I am so happy and impressed with Red Box that I have hired Red Box to remodel another bathroom!"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"We had water back-up in our basement and didn't know if it was sewage or just water back-up, since we had recently had lots of flooding in our area. The technician explained that since our house had sat empty for 2 years, all the sludge in the pipes settled at the bottom, and needed to be cleared out. We shouldn't have this problem again. He explained what the problem was, and what he was going to do in order to fix it. And then - we forgot our checkbook, and only had $117 in cash on us - and our total was $145.00. He was just going to accept the $117 and be done with it, but we insisted that we'd pay the next day. This was a great transaction, and we will definitely recommend this company to anybody that needs a plumber. <br />"

"Overall it went pretty good.. Perhaps a little more feedback during the actual replacement activity would be good as there were days when the site crew started later and we were uncertain as to whether they were coming on some days. That being said, they pretty much held to the overall schedule as originally presented during the quote process. At this point in time.....the roof has been completed for only a couple of weeks....we are thoroughly satisfied."

"I got their name from Angie's List. They were good, they fixed everything. They were very helpful. I haven't had any issues since. I am happy. I would recommend them. The price was reasonable, I didn't know what to expect, I was expecting the worst scenario in my head, and $250 seemed reasonable because I couldn't use my sink or my dishwasher. Everything was not working, so I would recommend them. They were fast, they got to the problem, and their price was fair."

"It's been a little under a year since this work was done and I'm very happy with it. <br>Staff member came promptly and gave me an estimate.  Compared to other estimates I considered it was competitive for what i was getting quality/efficiency-wise.  They made sure to explain the various rebates and savings I qualified for and worked to make sure I got them. <br>They came on two separate days - one to do the A/C and one to do the furnace.  Two different staff did the work and both were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly.  They did their work, cleaned up, and took the time to explain everything and show that it all worked. <br>Like I said, nearly one year out (and post our first winter) everything has run exactly like they said it would. <br>It might have been slightly more expensive (hundred dollars here or there) than another company but I feel like I got that back in quality and piece of mind. <br> <br>  <br> <br>"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Carbon Cliff, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
