"Elliot and his crew showed up as scheduled. They had some difficulties with the old slab being so porous, but worked through the day to get it right. The color came out great, but the gloss layer did not last. After discussing this with Elliot, he stated it was most likely due to the very old and porous slab. Elliot and his crew came back to the house, re sanded the floor and put a thin top layer on the slab. He stained and sealed the floor with a high gloss finish. He did all this at no cost to me and the final product came out great."

"We needed our front porch rebuilt. We saw a job he was doing, talked to the home owner on the job he was just finishing up, and then gave him a call. Two weeks later, we had our porch rebuilt and could not be happier. He stuck to the estimate and timeline he gave us. His crew knew what they were doing and did not cut corners. They paid attention to detail. We have more work and will definitely call him again. <br />"

"Two day job, in and out.  Work done professionally.  Backhoe operator was amazing, like a surgeon.  Pipework and hookup went in easy.  Needed some concrete work afterwards and they set me up with another vendor that did a great job. <br />"

"Job was started promptly and completed on time. They came back out to fix some things that we were not happy with, however, they failed to address some of the original reasons that they were contacted in the first place. The foreman assured us that he would return to do this, however he was a no-show. When we called to inquire about this we were told our message would be passed along, but that's the last we heard from them."

"A storm caused a tree to fall on my back deck. The deck was in need of a complete rebuild. Chris was very easy to work with. He came to my home to assess the damage the day after my call which allowed me to submit my insurance claim quickly. He began work on my deck as soon as the claim was approved. Chris is the picture of professionalism. He was punctual. He worked a full 8 plus hour day and completed my porch under his deadline. He found a safety issue related to the old deck and corrected it at no additional charge. He went above and beyond and helped me to clean up my back yard and my gutters. If you are looking for someone who is professional, courteous, and completes the job on time, look no further."

"I met him in Lowes and asked for his business card.  When I called, he came immediately and began working beside my other contractor to finish the job in just a few days.  He helped us design the porch and helped us think through the ramifications of our decisions.  I'd highly recommend him. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Carbon Hill, AL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
