"We had three estimates to waterproof our son's basement. Shelley's was the middle one. Mr. Shelley was willing to work with us on price to come closer to the lowest bid. They came in, on time, used a wet saw to create a straight line on the basement floor, jack hammered and dug out to below the foundation, and installed piping to the sump pump they installed in a corner. They used the old concrete, broken up, to cover the pipe, adding smaller pieces on top. They dug weep holes in the lower courses of block and ran plastic to channel seepage down to the pipe and then covered the entire area with cement. When finished the area was smooth and exactly level with the rest of the floor. Their work covered two walls, about 50 feet in length. The covered everything to prevent any dirt or dust and completely cleaned the entire room when finished. The job was begun on time, took exactly as much time as estimated, and completed when anticipated. Mr Shelley and his workers were very pleasant and easy to work with. I can't imagine a better overall experience.

"Dave Socko, the salesman who met with us initially, did a great job. I appreciate how he took the time to educate us on the pros and cons of different waterproofing methods, and explained how their approach was different from some of the other companies out there. The whole process was very simple and hassle-free. They got the job done quickly (despite a snowstorm that happened in the middle of the job.) They kept us informed as to their progress, and they did a good job of keeping the area clean at the end of each day. It took them less than three full days of work to get all of it done. (Tearing out all of the carpet, paneling, drop ceiling, and some of the walls, and installing the waterproofing system, and getting rid of the mold growth) I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who has issues with water in their basement."

FAQs for concrete foundation installation projects in Carlisle, PA

A concrete footer is a relatively shallow column of concrete that sits below your foundation walls. Footers spread wider than the foundation, so they can support a higher amount of weight in critical spots, such as below walls. The exact dimensions of footers depend on the home, so larger structures need a larger footing.

To calculate footing size, you need to know the minimum width and depth for houses in your region. Multiplying the width by the linear footprint of the structure will give you the size in linear feet.

To convert linear feet into square feet, you can divide the width by 12. For example, an 18-inch footer is 1.5 square feet per linear foot. Multiply this number by the total in linear feet to get the answer in square feet.

Installing a pier and beam foundation costs $5 per square foot, or $8,000 to $15,000. This style is standard in homes built before the 1960s or those in flood-prone areas.

Concrete weight support ranges from 1,500 to 6,500 pounds per square inch, and footings need at least 3,500 to 4,500 pounds per square inch. Remember that your soil type, climate, and materials used will significantly affect how much weight your footings can hold, especially in certain areas.

It costs between $1,600 and $3,200 to pour a 20-by-20-foot concrete slab. These estimates are based on an average cost to pour a concrete slab of $4 to $8 per square foot. Be sure to discuss the specifics with a pro—they’ll give you an estimate of how much you can expect.

The cost to raise a house is between $3,200 and $10,000. This range refers to a form of repair that involves lifting the entire house to potentially remove the old foundation and build a new one or add to an existing one.
