"While the plumber himself is professional, informative and knowledgeable, I had to leave several voice messages, send email, and ultimately contact him through the Angie's List messages to get a response when some items needed a return visit. <br /> I purchased a deal from Angie's List, but never received any breakdown of the costs of actual repairs, so I am left to assume that what they did exactly covered the cost I had pre-paid.  <br /> I purchased parts & materials (faucets, sprayers, handles, etc) myself ahead of time since it is often problematic when working in an older (19th century) house. <br /> An assistant replaced the kitchen faucet & sprayer, but I had to have them return to take care of one handle which came loose within the first few days of use.  The pop up in the downstairs bathroom sink that was replaced no longer works. I didn't realize until after they left that the faucet and handles I'd selected that were put on the upstairs bathroom sink render the pop up useless, so the drain is always open. The trap in the kitchen is fine, as is the basement shut off valve. I had also previously had them replace the outside faucet at the barn/garage and that worked well throughout the summer (another Angie's List deal.)  <br /> I was upset that, while installing the upstairs sink faucet and handles, that they didn't notice that the shut off valve was not completely turned off. Hence, when I went downstairs, I found water pouring out of the ceiling in the kitchen. I quickly told them & they shut it properly. Perhaps I am expecting too much, but I would have thought that they would take some responsibility since it was their error  that left 4 saturated ceiling tiles sagging and dripping onto the kitchen floor and island. Instead I was told to simply let them dry. I ended up spraying bleach above them, & propping them up with clothes poles for a full week as they slowly dried. They are still obviously lower than the surrounding tiles. <br /> <br /> <br />"

I've been an electrician for nearly 10 years and I'm an owner-operated company based out of Quakertown. There is no job too small for me. A handful of jobs I take care of are outlets, switches, lights, ceiling, bath, and attic fans, electric car chargers, underground electric for outbuildings, electrical panels, service upgrades, troubleshooting and more.

"They were able to come the day after I called, despite light snow. The crew confirmed that the clogging was in the main drain, rather than the inside drains. They snaked the drain that runs 60 feet from the front of the house to the sewer, and cleaned out the main house trap. The price was reasonable, and no attempt was made to upsell additional services or a "maintenance plan" as other plumbers have done."

"About a year ago, I had a leak from my downstairs toilet. A plumbing company came out, said it just needed an extra seal and assured me that would fix the issue. I paid $475 and the leak did stop for a while. However, they never checked the basement or looked into anything else that could cause a long-term problem. A few months later, the leak came back. That’s when I called Robinson Plumbing and they sent out Julius and Gavin. These two were excellent. They didn’t just treat the symptom, they took the time to fully investigate the issue. They discovered that the toilet was sitting crooked and after checking further, found that the main drainpip in the basement was also misaligned. To fix it properly, they had to cut the drain and reinstall the PVC pipe so everything would sit correctly. They did a phenomenal job, and you can tell they truly care about doing things the right way, not just a quick fix. I highly recommend Robinson Plumbing, and especially Julius and Gavin. "

"Jim and his team are truly exceptional contractors. I don't think there is a single thing he doesn't know how to fix. He came and sorted out some electrical for me, plumbing, moisture problems in my basement, HVAC - he went above and beyond and I trust him implicitly. If you need work done, I can't recommend Jim enough. He knows what he is doing and he has your back."

"My husband was fixing the outside faucet and had shut off the electric to the well pump. When he turned it back on, grit from the well was spewing from all the faucets and into the toilets. He called Tim Biel Plumbing because they conveniently left a sticker on the plumbing downstairs and set up an appointment for Monday 6/30/14 in the afternoon. When my husbands schedule changed he called and asked if they could come in the morning instead in which they agreed. Tom Beil showed up and my husband explained what had happened and ask how this could be fixed. Tom was very knowledgeable and explained a lot of things to my husband in detail till they came up with the best option. Tom gave us the estimate and with his little clean shoe booties, laid down a drop cloth where he was going to work and hooked up a hose to clean out the well tank by repeatedly flushing the tank till it ran clear. Then he installed the new filter on the wall and proceeded to cut the copper piping and install new piping and new shut off through the new wall filter. He explained in detail how to use the tool to change the filter and left an additional filter. He left the utility room as cleans as he found it, you couldn't tell he was even in the house except for the new filter. Part of the pricing included a 12 month service agreement. The service agreement waives the service call fee, adds a visual inspection, and water analysis. All of which my husband was really happy about especially when we found there were no issues with the water analysis. What's really funny, is that when he was working I went to Angie's list and found out they were on it with great reviews. It was a win win combination. Really glad my husband made the call and very happy to write this review. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Catasauqua, PA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
