"Columbia Electric referred Finishing Touch to me. The electrician accidentally slipped on a joist in the attic and put his knee through the ceiling on a Monday. It was not until the following Wednesday Finishing Touch was able to get a gentleman out to make the repair. Once I was on the schedule, he was right on time (both times). Although he patched it, he did not patch it far enough and a hairline crack still runs in the ceiling (see picture). I also had to request he mud over the whole patch as it left a dip when a straight edge was placed next to it. The one gentleman said that you usually have dips in patches. Frankly, you don't when you know what you are doing. While he was here I arranged with the owner, Russ, to do some sanding and mudding on the walls, which I had already begun (I wanted to save myself some time on the bathroom renovation). I had to request his return because he failed to sand some areas and never mudded others that he had sanded. He did not dispose of the waste from the patch repair, but laid the broken pieces of drywall on the carpeted floor at the top of the steps in a pile (about a buckets worth). Granted, there were some unused parts of drywall sheets, but I found this unprofessional. He used a drop cloth, but after sanding he also failed to vacuum/sweep the dust from sanding and left it for me to clean. Overall, I feel I was an inconvenience for Finishing Touch and they were forced into this job due to their relationship with my electrician, and the effort to get me out of the way greatly impacted the quality of their work. In fact, the second time they were here I was not aware they had left (I was on the back porch). I heard their vehicles start and they were gone."

Small business looking to help you put your taste in your home. I have a passion for doing any and all types of remodeling. I was introduced to this business when I was ten years old by my father and have loved doing this work ever since. I even have a degree from USC in psychology and still choose my true passion of construction. I am very knowledgable in most if not all fields of the construction world. My estimates are free and I would love to come take a look at whatever one may need done in their home.

"I hired Daniel to redo the kitchen in my house. There were some minor setbacks along the way, but Daniel was very communicative through the whole process and accommodating. I found his staff to be very trustworthy in my home, which is important because I work full-time. When it came time to settle up the contract, the bottom line was what I was told it would be. Without a doubt, I'd hire them again and I'll recommend them over again. I'm very happy with my remodel. Thank you, Daniel."

"They did a great job. I was amazed because they said I might be able to see the repair. I was so happy to see my furniture back to its old self. They were punctual and got the repair done in 1 day. I have already told friends about Studio K. Thanks Angie’s List for your advice."

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! The work quality was fine, but that is all it was. Nothing grand, nothing exquisite, nothing "over the top". However, the amount of charges are insurmountable! Oh...and they REFUSE (the owner's words) to provide a breakdown of their costs. IN ADDITION they REFUSE (the owner's words) to work with insurance companies. So, if you have any damage and want to file an insurance claim they won't assist. For example--my mom is elderly. They charged her $3,900 to repair a ceiling that had water damage. No, they didn't replace any of the ceiling, they just painted over the damage.....they have no measurements to even provide. When asking for a breakdown of the cost-the owner of The Imp Co's response was "that is what we charge for everyone with ceiling repair." Which means, whether the repair is 20 sq ft or 200 sq ft--you pay almost $4k?? They charged my mom $22k just to sand and re-stain floors. My mom paid a moving company to remove all of her furniture, so it wasn't as if they had any obstacles in simply just doing the work. I question this company's ethics. Yes, it is my family's fault for using this company. My mother is elderly and they took advantage of her b/c she believes in everyone who is nice is a "not going to do her wrong." We don't live with our mother & she did this without our knowledge & without getting another quote. Now our mom is sick with worry b/c the ins company won't reimburse her, but b/c we can't get answers from this company. We understand our mom should not have used them--but DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE!!! PS---we WILL be filing a W9 with the State of SC & the IRS. We know it won't serve as any purpose for our tax records, however, will certainly put a spotlight to both on how much they received as pymt vs work provided....."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Cayce, SC

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
