"They were excellent. They arrived early in the morning, tore off the old roof, made repairs to some of the boards on the roof and did excellent prep for the shingles. They had five or six men working, who were all considerate, and a couple of them continued to clean up between different stages of the job. The owner of the company was there the whole day and provided oversite and was very approachable for my questions. They installed a third static vent in my roof free of charge, and I noticed that my second floor seemed cooler that night. They straightened my gutters and did top quality work from start to finish. They also finished the job in one work day and cleaned up very thoroughly. I am completely satisfied and give my highest recommendation for Rodeffer Roofing."

"We researched many roofing products & several local roofing companies before deciding upon Cornett. Their HD powdered-coated metal shakes were our first choice for looks & also offered best quality of materials & warranty, even their "standard" 5V was a better quality than what others were selling. It took about 2 wks to schedule the quote apparently due to the amount of roof damage from recent local storms. Our project was started in a timely manner about 2 wks after signing the contract & took 3 days to complete all 3 buildings. The office & crew were very polite. The crew kept the jobsite tidy & worked long days. There were some hiccups along the way & we feel that inter-departmental communication could be improved upon. Most of the crew was ESL so perhaps there was a language barrier involved, too. In addition, there was an incident of what seemed like poor planning based on the weather forecast while finishing other parts of the roof rather than the part on the house that was still open requiring tarps overnight. All that being said, once our concerns were relayed to the proper person, the issues were addressed & resolved in a very timely manner. A couple of issues also popped up soon after the job was completed & we were pleasantly surprised that those were also promptly resolved. The only issue that we are still not quite sure of is if the crew was actually Cornett employees or subbed. We specifically asked if they were subs during the quote & we also asked the spokesman for the crew & were told they "work for Cornett". What is strange is that there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding about removing gutters for the roof installation & the crew asked if they were going to replace the gutters, too. However, at the time of the quote, we were told that there wasn't room to negotiate the gutter quote because that was subbed out. Based on that info, a reasonable conclusion is that if the same crew that installed the roof was also going to install gutters then they would appear to be subs. We suspect that the "crew leader" is an employee of Cornett so technically that is why we were told they do not use subs. As it turned out, even if they were subs, they did a good job, which was our concern about using subs in the first place, but we would have liked more transparency in the details. We absolutely love the look of our new roofs, esp the shakes, & have had several compliments on our "new house". Most importantly, we have had several rainstorms over the last month & there has been no sign of leaks & we can expect no shingle damage for the next 50 yrs. We highly recommend Cornett. <br> <br>"

"It went great. Troy was there on time, looked at EVERYTHING, took photos of all the problem areas, and helped me understand what it would take to bring the house up to code, fix a pretty significant slope on a second floor, and get the roof in order. Knowing what I was getting myself into (and/or what I needed to walk away from based on my tolerance for amount of work needed) made me MUCH more confident to decide which fixer-upper I wanted to buy. Thanks Troy!"

"Eric removed two layers of shingles from our 40 year old roof and replaced them with new 3D Duration shingles. The job started with us needing someone to replace some siding on the chimney due to water leaking in behind the siding causing deterioration and paint peeling off of the siding panels. The repair which we were pursuing was relatively small and consequently we contacted several qualified contractors and they were not willing to even come and scope out our job. Someone referred us to Maximus and when I called and talked to Eric, he was willing to take on the project even though it was small. When he showed up to evaluate the situation and give an estimate for the job, he discovered that the cause of our problem was due to the concrete cap around our chimneys that had cracked and separated and allowed water to seep in and deteriorate the trim boards and siding. We agreed to have him replace the siding and trim boards and to replace the chimney chase because his quote was very reasonable. During this same visit, I was asking him about the condition of the shingles on the roof because they had been in place for 20 years. They were showing signs of wear but he said they could last another year or two. I inquired as to the cost of him roofing the house too while he was doing the other jobs for us and that quote seemed very reasonable so I agreed to that job as well. He has just finished the total project in less than a week and everything looks really good. He maintained the schedule that he promised and he was on site nearly every day to make sure things were running smooth. We will definitely call Maximus again when the need arises. <br />"

"The employees did an immaculate job. Joe Bear did amazing work and installed everything to the specs I wanted. Contractors cleaned up after themselves, there was no dirt or grime left around the work area nor carpet in the house, wouldn't even know they were there!"

"Working with Royalty was a great experience. They had repaired a ridge vent for us a few years ago, and we were impressed with the attention they gave us for a "mere" $600 repair. So, when it was time for a completely new roof, we called Royalty. A sales person met with us within a work week, and was very patient with helping us weigh the different shingle options, warranties, and choose a color. We were given an approximate work start date, and despite many rainy work days that month, work started within two days of the approximate date (which was about two weeks out from when we signed the contract). The quote given to us was within $500 (4%) of two other quotes we received from local roofing companies. <br /> We were really impressed with the prompt and clear communication from our salesperson. He let us know when to expect the dumpster, the roofing crew, the gutter crew, and whenever we called with a question, he returned our call within an hour, even in the evening. The on-site crew was friendly, courteous, and graciously tolerated my five-year-old and two-year-old watching them roof the garage from our two story window. The crew foreman also communicated with us on site throughout the process, answering questions, and informing us on the status of our roof boards. When high winds blew shingles into the garage and vinyl siding, the foreman showed us the damage, asked if the crew could repaint with matching colors, and even repainted a spot where we, the owners, splashed paint on the siding when cleaning brushes. <br /> When it came to clean up, the crew did an excellent job, which was especially important with our children who like to run barefoot outside. With the high winds, many of the old shingles tried to fly pretty far, but the crew got pretty much all of the old material cleared out. We only found a few nails in bushes and on the ground, a major improvement over work we had done with other roofers at previous homes. Less than five nails left behind on such a big job was pretty impressive. Start to finish on the roof took two full work days, which included removing two previous layers of shingles. The gutters took less than five hours over an evening and the following morning. <br /> We are very pleased with the service we received from Royalty. Our roof and gutters look great, and the price was very comparable to the two other quotes we got from other companies. Our final total only exceeded the quote by the cost of roof plywood that we chose to replace, and we were well informed of the additional cost that would entail when we made that choice during the work. Although we were daunted by needing such expensive home repairs, we felt confident in our choice of provider. We highly recommend Royalty for residential roofing/gutter needs. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"October 2014 contacted Gonzalez Home Improvement & Construction one day and they were out two days later to pull out chain link fencing and hauled it all away and cleaned up.  Set a date to deliver dirt to fill in deep holes in the yard where an excavator had hooked up from house to street sewer (and refused to fix their mess).  Gonzalez delivered the dirt and spread it. They did a great job!   Owner and workers were very polite on each visit. Will use them again. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Centerville, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
