"Matthew was very quick to get back to me and get the job done right. I had a leaking toilet that was not seated correctly so it ruined the floor beneath. I had this issue fixed 3 times before. Matthew came out and replaced the flooring underneath it and now it sits correctly on the floor and no longer leaks. I would definitely have them come back if I had any other plumbing problems"

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"This is a historic home in Farmington, not some modern home where you can rely on standard building methods to get things done. A full crew showed up to demo the old bath(s) piping. They were able to troubleshoot and overcome plenty of oddities in the 1800's home, assemble a brand new (from the basement to the 2nd floor) plumbing system, and pass inspection on the first go. They constantly checked each other's work to ensure that the job was done right when they walked out the door, and even had an IRC book with them to reference code when needed! What really made it great for me was their pointers and advice on how to do my portion of the renovation to mate up with theirs seamlessly, and their willingness to work with me. I'm sure if you have some small issue or a modern bath that needs some refreshing, they could do it eyes closed... but a plumber who can handle a 130-year-old home and plan out a completely up-to-date bath in it is much, much rarer. If you needs are out of the ordinary, I'd call Matt before anyone else."

"We highly recommend Josh & Jacob and the rest of the Independent Mechanical team! They did a great job installing central AC into our home. The work was completed on time, despite the grueling July heat they encountered in our attic. They were very neat and respectful of our property and the cost was reasonable. It was a very good experience!"

"How did it go?? I’ll tell you. You ever hire a contractor that never shows up on time or not ever?? Eric showed up 15 minutes ahead of time. Walked in went right to problem furnace and up the ladder with proper tools and replacement parts. Not a minute was wasted. Installed parts tested for gas leaks and then furnace flame adjusted everything completed job, cleaned up everything. So clean you would never know a contractor was on the job. He is absolutely the best!!"

"I'm a new home moaner (lol) but I do most of the repairs for my two-family. Unfortunately I don't speak boiler and so when both my boilers went down in the middle of the night on the coldest night of the year I knew I had to call a professional. It was Friday the 13th and I called two local HVAC companies, both literally right around the corner from my home with one actually doing work 2 doors down from me at the time, and was told I'd have to wait until Monday, December 16th! Unfortunately we were about to be hit with a major snow storm that night and the temperatures were in the single digits. Space heaters freak me out so I took a chance and logged onto Angie's List to see if there was anyone locally who could service the boilers ASAP! I called 3 companies and was blown off because I did not have a service contract with them. I became so desperate I called my local gas company because they offered boiler service contracts but when I looked at what was covered and what was NOT covered, my problem (and it seemed EVERY problem that a boiler may have) was under the NOT covered portion. So back to Angie's list I went and called Riley's as a last resort. No one answered but I left a message. Ten minutes later a pleasant gentleman called me back and said he would send someone out at 8:30 the very next morning. I agreed but secretly I just KNEW no one was going to show up:( Well at 8:26 a.m my mom woke me up saying that Brad from Riley's was downstairs and I've never gotten dressed so fast in my life. I couldn't believe it! He came in, asked me what was wrong, got boiler number one started in 2 seconds (Really?!) and saw that boiler number 2 had a bad expansion tank and release valve. He went to his truck, got the parts, replaced them in 5 minutes, started the the boiler, saw water pouring from the boiler return pipe, went back to his truck got the new pipe, valve and torch. replaced that in 2 minutes, fired the boiler again, saw no water leaking, cleaned up and went to write up my invoice. By the way it was snowing like crazy already. When he returned I just KNEW (there I go again...lol) I was going to have to apprentice one of my teenagers to him for the holidays to pay the bill;( NOPE! $338.00...TOTAL...after hours....on a Saturday....in December....during a storm! I gladly wrote that check! And some one from one of the local boiler companies just popped in when they saw Riley's truck in my driveway. WOW! Couldn't answer my service call yesterday but can pop in when the competition is here?! Thanks SLS! Needless to say that Riley's is now my boiler whisperer:) I am happy and my toes are toasty warm! Brad was great, he even gave me great advise on how to maintain my system for optimal efficiency and I will be using Riley's to install my tankless water heater system in the spring. Thanks. <br />"

"Nick and his employee were great! They were able to install a beam and open up our kitchen in about two days! Nick even went with us to help us get our materials and was he gave us a very reasonable quote. He knows what he's doing, very flexible and efficient. 10/10 would hire him again!"

"We were having issues with our furnace and were without heat. It was winter and very cold out. We tried calling and left numerous messages for several repair companies found in the phone book. None of which answered the phone or returned our messages. I called a representative for Angie's list and upon obtaining a membership was given a list of local plumbing and heating professionals in my area. I tried the first number on my list, Ryan from "Anything Plumbing". Not only did he answer his phone, he called me back and fit us into his already busy schedule a couple of hours later. Ryan diagnosed the problem and fixed the furnace promptly. It was an excellent experience and I would highly recommend their service. <br />"

"We could not be happier homeowners and would work with Service Plus again without hesitation. From start to finish we found Sam to be beyond professional and knowledgeable. He came out to look at our "interesting" situation and immediately began discussing the possible causes and solutions to our problem. He was up front about the challenges and possible solutions, and that this may only be a partial solution. We chose to move forward with the removal of our old plumbing in this area and a reconfiguration of our drainage system because even if it was not the sole contributor to the problem, it was an issue to be resolved. As he was removing the old toilet flange in this process, he suggested replacing the toilet as well and gave us helpful notes as we went to purchase a toilet (toilets come with different rough-in sizes). The project was not a small project and they worked until it was completed so we were only without water for one day. In the end we have a beautifully laid out drainage system; he widened our pipes from a 3in to a 4in, designed smoother transitions, sealed the aging ejector pump lid, installed the toilet, installed a pipe for our future laundry machine move, as well as went above by fixing/replacing a few minor things outside of the originally discussed designated area. At the end of the evening he walked my husband and I through the completed project, talked about a few items to be aware of in the future, and briefly talked about our well. Sam answered all our questions and even discussed how he designed and implemented the reconfiguration. There was an open line of communication from start to finish about the project and he was available to help in the time leading up to the actual project completion. Again without hesitation we recommend Service Plus for your plumbing needs."

"Very well. Tyler and his team did a fantastic job laying out and installing the tanks, plumbing, etc. It was very neatly laid out and installed in less than 3 hours. They showed up on time and were very courteous. Rick, the Water Doctor, came to our house several weeks before and carefully explained the entire system to us in considerable detail and answering all of our questions. Prior to the actual installation, we were in frequent email contact. Whether it was by email or phone, they promptly were in touch. They are a great company with which to work."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Central Village, CT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
