Customers say: Quick response

"I discovered a relative of mine who recently took a class offered through the city for him to be certified to test for lead paint. Seeing that we tested negative, I decided not to hire XRT testing services for follow up testing when the project was done. I will save their name and number though, as a future resource. They were very knowledgeable, helpful, and quick to return a call. And every landlord needs good resources, now or later."

"Sean was very nice to us. We were afraid of having asbestos on one part of the house and he was patient enough to answer all of our questions. We had an area tested and he was on time for the testing and we got the results when he said we were going to."

"It went smooth and thorough and he gave us the information we needed to know. I was wanting to schedule something soon and they were able to come out two days after I inquired their services! Cant beat that. We also got a phone call explaining everything that was found for the air quality test and where to go from there. All their help was very much appreciated."

"Tom from Mold Testing and Remediation was very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me determine what had already been done by our home's previous owner, and we put together a simple remediation plan that fixed my problem quickly. He laid out a plan for future maintenance that will pre-empt the problem in future. His pricing was excellent - much less than I expected we might have to pay."

"We have been planning to do some remodeling in our 70s home and had some cracked/peeling paint. Since we have a baby, I was worried about lead paint exposure. After trying the 3M lead check swabs and getting confusing results, we decided to go with a professional. Itwas totally worth cost and didnt cause any damage. Louis checked every permanent surface of our home. Thankfully lead was only found in our bathtub and some tiles...spots I didn’t even think of! Louis answered my many questions, and I now feel confidant in remodeling. Louis was extremely professional and knowledgeable."

"Wish I could give them an A+! I was very impressed with Todd's expertise and customer service. We will definately be going back to Legend for future testing needs. We wanted to test some building materials from our 1920's house for asbestos before doing demolition. I called and consulted Todd over the phone on costs and sample collection before bring the samples over. Their rates for bulk analysis of asbestos were very economical in my opinion ($35 for 1 sample or $25/sample if multiple samples w/ 3-5 day turn) with options to pay for expedited results if you don't have time to wait ($50 for next day/sample or $100 for same day). When I arrived, he came out to talk through the samples and was very knowledgeable about building materials and which were likely or unlikely to contain asbestos. We had some multi-layered plaster and Todd explained how it was constructed and which layers, if any, were the most likely to contain asbestos. We dropped our sample off at 8am and requested next day results since we planned to start demo. We had results later the same day."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Chaska, MN

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
