"I came home from vacation to discover a moldy odor.  I went down to the basement mechanical area, only to discover that the water pressure booster pump was leaking.  I called Bob. he came right out to check.  At first, he thought it was only going to need a new seal. So he spent time trying to replace the seal.  Unfortunately that didn't work, so he would up replacing the entire pump.
This is actually a well pump. Although I have city water, the pump is needed to provide adequate water pressure for the upstairs as well as the sprinkler system.
