"I needed to replace some lally columns in my basement. Rene was friendly, knowledgeable, prompt, and efficient. Rene came out and gave me a detailed estimate for the work that I needed. While he was doing the work, he was very good at explaining why and how he was performing the various steps in the process, for example, cutting, digging, and pouring the new footings, curing the concrete, cutting, setting, and leveling the posts. The work he performed is solid, and it fixed various issues in my house, for example, he removed a dip in my floor, he stabilized the basement stairs, and two doors in my house that wouldn't latch previously now sit squarely in their frames. I definitely recommend Rene, I already plan to hire him again for some more foundation work on my house."

I hired them do install a French drain and sump pump. I had a lot of water and needed masonry work done on the old foundation walls. The owner reassured me, and informed me of the mortar he was using, and he and his crew did a great job with repairing leaks and applying thoro-seal on the walls. Another big problem I had was with mold and mildew. He cleaned the entire basement and it is now mold free! When the job was finished, the owner came, took a look, and it looks like I have a brand new basement! I am very pleased with the company and its work! "Colonial Restorations was superb.   Our family very much enjoyed working with Brad Green and Tom Green.   <br /> <br /> At the outset, they made thorough assessments of our family's barn, identifying several problem areas and offering multiple proposals for how best to address each (including strategies and estimates).  They walked through the different proposals with us, addressing all questions and discussing different options.  This was extremely constructive and important to the process.  <br /> <br /> They demonstrated very clear understanding of post-and-beam wood construction.  They displayed great expertise in working with wood (white oak, red oak, hemlock) and with the tools, jacks and cribbing needed for this work.  They worked carefully, always putting in place the necessary jacks and cribbing in advance of each phase of this project. <br /> <br /> They were clear about their schedule and were very responsible about communicating with us.  If there were a day that they would not be on site, they let us know ahead of time.  With the exception of a snow storm and an illness, they were on site five days a week from the first week in January till the second week in February, 2016.   <br /> <br /> By the completion of this project, Colonial Restorations had made significant and important structural repairs to our barn.  This work was done with care, craft, accuracy, and to code.  (All elements of this project were examined and passed by the building inspector.)  Most important, these repairs respected and worked with the existing structure and materials of the barn. <br /> <br /> We could not be happier with these repairs or with the work done by Colonial Restorations.  It was a pleasure working with Brad and Tom."

"I had been looking for awhile to find someone to replace my brick porch. Poor initial construction, age, insects and weather had taken it's toll. This could be a nightmare of an experience if not done correctly so it was important to me that I get someone who knew what they were doing to get the job done. I found Western Mass Masons on Angie's list and called for an estimate. Dave (I believe the owner) arrived promptly and spent at least an hour reviewing the problems and making suggestions on how to resolve them. An estimate was sent to me and I accepted, scheduling the work for the following spring. After an inital delay due to issues on another project (I was called and told that there would be a delay which I had no problem with) Dave came back to review the details of the job and the work began promptly as promised. A backhoe was brought in and the existing porch was quickly demolished and removed after the portico was made secure. Nearby existing brick veneer on the house was also carefully removed and found to have water damage underneath which was brought to my attention. A good portion of the time was spent on building a solid foundation for the new porch. While the porch foundation was being done the cracked foundation blocks for the house were cut out and replaced. I was very specific on the design of the porch as I wanted it to be in proportion to the portico as well as stay in the style of the house. Dave worked with me on this making a number of suggestions on how to retain the look and build in a way that would minimize the effects of weather over time to the brick. I was also very pleased with the match of the bricks to the existing veneer, looks great. Drainage work was done as described. When everything was finished carpenters were called in to replace the six columns that held up the portico. Dave and his crew did an excellent job, professionals on every level. I am very pleased with the result, the porch is beautiful. I have peace of mind as well knowing that everything was done correctly, no corners were cut, nothing is going to fall apart in a year or two. I would highly recommend Western Mass Masons and will use Angie's list again."
