"Diprom arrived when they said they would and efficiently removed and replaced a 30 foot badly spalled walk way. The job was done at a significantly lower price than that of another Angi contractor. The contractor also added some nicely done aesthetic details. Recommended."

"We are pleased to recommend Triangle Reconstruction with our highest praise. It seems too simple to say that they do what they said they’d do, but that’s exactly what happened. Our home is around 50 years old. Ours was a large job - around a month and $30,000. We had Triangle Reconstruction come in after another moisture company provided mold remediation and a humidifier. I wish we’d contacted TR to start with. We provided TR with a structural engineering report. They created a plan to exactly meet all of engineer’s concerns. TR used temporary supports and replaced seal plates, girders, and joists for over half of our home. In addition, they poured footers and built new columns. They also added a few additional girders to firm up our floors. They removed and replaced our insulation. They sealed our porch and crawl space, replaced our vapor barrier, and installed a moisture meter. They wrapped our electrical cords and hung them. The people at TR are remarkable. A+++++"

"The job was punctually done. I can't remember the details of how long it took, but it seems to have been a reasonable amount of time. We have had heavy rains since, and there has been no seepage. At one point we worried that we never heard the pump go on, but an electrician showed us that the pump was working, just very quiet."

"My project entailed transforming a dark, space-consuming stairway  <br /> encased within walls, into an open floating stairway. The old staircase  <br /> completely separated the living area from the kitchen-dining rooms,  <br /> prohibiting any conversation between those areas. I wanted to create a  <br /> space that would allow the entire first floor to function as one open  <br /> room for entertaining. After interviewing a few contractors, I hired  <br /> Jimmy Dollman (Dollman Construction). From the first meeting, Jimmy  <br /> separated himself from the others. He asked relevant questions to  <br /> ensure that he understood exactly what I wanted from the renovation.  <br /> After several conversations and review of an idea book, Jimmy  <br /> completed design drawings and then thoroughly explained each part of  <br /> the renovation process. Certain design elements required thinking  <br /> outside the box so that building code requirements were met, while <br /> still creating the look and ?feel? I wanted. The timeline for completion  <br /> of the project was to be no later than Aug 2nd. <br /> It was completed on July 25th. I then added an additional project, the replacement of the kitchen  <br /> flooring, on July 28th. The stairway renovation turned out so well that it  <br /> made the kitchen floor appear shabby and out of place. Even with  <br /> special order tile, Dollman completed everything by Aug 15th <br /> . <br /> The renovation was done on our second residence, a townhouse that is  <br /> a 3 ½ hour drive from our permanent residence. We only made one  <br /> visit during the four month renovation. However, Jimmy routinely sent  <br /> pictures at all major milestones. I could also count on receiving his  <br /> updates every Friday. I always felt ?in the loop? and fully informed. I  <br /> was never worried or concerned about not being on site. <br /> The townhouse has vaulted ceilings in the living area, yet was dark and  <br /> relatively small with just one North facing window. The dining room has <br /> a sliding glass door with Southern exposure and opens into a huge open  <br /> kitchen. There was a prefab gas fireplace that took precious space from  <br /> the small living room, yet was never used. The design that Jimmy and I <br /> created got rid of the fireplace, and completely opened up the  <br /> staircase, making it appear to ?float? with as few visible support beams  <br /> as possible. We chose a stainless steel cable banister system that  <br /> allowed the dining and living areas to become one open living space.  <br /> The end result is an incredible contemporary design that takes  <br /> maximum advantage of the vaulted ceiling. <br /> The demo included removal of the fireplace?s gas line, relocation of  <br /> numerous electrical outlets/switches, removal of four walls and the  <br /> existing wood floor. New hardwood oak flooring was installed. Custom  <br /> made steps and wood railings were milled and stained to match the  <br /> dark cherry colored flooring (perfectly, may I say). With the entire  <br /> downstairs repainted a crisp white (less my one Chicago Maroon accent  <br /> wall), the contrast was made even more dramatic with the installation  <br /> of new lighting. Two can lights on a dimmer switch under the first  <br /> landing were added as a suggestion from Jimmy. Two new pendant  <br /> lights and matching stairway sconce of pewter and nickel completed the  <br /> contemporary feel of the new space.  <br /> An area that was considered marginally functional became a perfect  <br /> warm and inviting entertainment space. Now when you walk through  <br /> the front door, you feel like you could be in a trendy loft apartment in  <br /> Manhattan.  <br /> Now that the project is complete we know without a doubt that we  <br /> hired the right contractor. The new staircase exceeded all our  <br /> expectations. It was completed ahead of schedule and on  <br /> budget?with no hidden expenses or financial surprises! Mr. Dollman  <br /> and his company?s professionals were a pleasure to work with,  <br /> responsive, caring and talented. We would not think of working with  <br /> any other contractor in the Roanoke or Blacksburg area. <br />"

"The job went very smoothly.  They were very punctual when they were scheduled to arrive for the job.  They were polite and professional.  The wall removal took less time than expected and they left the area very clean.  The island construction took longer than expected but it was during the holiday season and I really wasn't in a huge hurry.  The construction was taking place off site so it was not a hindrance to our day to day activities.  Once the island was placed there were several things I wanted to change and Mr. Crockett was more than accommodating, coming over several times until  everything was just like I wanted it.  He even sent men over to help me with something that was not part of the job.  We are do-it-yourselfers as much as possible and Mr. Crockett worked with me on how to make the job affordable and  professional. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Christiansburg, VA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
