Owner and operator, John Wiggins started the company - Work of Art Drywall & Construction in 2003. With over 35 years industry experience, we guarantee that if given the opportunity to earn your business and work with you, we will exceed your expectations.
"John is arrogant, which would be okay if the work was the quality he bragged about. He worked on my downstairs drywall and painting for a month but the work was so bad, my general contractor is having to redo it all. Paint was only sprayed, not back-rolled; drywall repairs "popped" out after paint was applied, edging was shoddy. For someone with "35 years of experience" and who does "exquisite work" I am shocked. His assistant was also arrogant and masked window frames with regular masking tape which pulled off a lot of the trim paint. The other assistant cut through window caulk while trying to remove masking. This poor job has cost me nine weeks of repair time due to it having to be redone. Plus, he also smokes and left cigarette butts in my yard. He broke the globe on a ceiling hanging light and never replaced it."

At Math-A Service, we are focused on providing painting services with the highest levels of customer satisfaction & we will do everything we can to meet your expectations. We do Interior & Exterior painting, as well as drywall.
"We have used this business before, and had a great experience. They were used prior to moving into the residence, so there was no furniture to move or care for. We used them last year in the same residence to repaint the walls and ceilings in preparation for resale. While the work on the walls and ceilings was good, they were very careless with our furniture. An antique cabinet, dining table, chairs and some other items were covered in paint spatters. An upholstered piece of furniture (loveseat) had a large smear of paint on it which we didn't discover until after they finished the job because it was white paint on white textured upholstery. The floors also had paint splatters in several locations. My husband and I really like the owner of this business. He is so nice, and we feel he is very honest. We don't know if he was too busy and so had crews that were rushing or what, but the paint messes on the furniture was too much, especially considering the price we paid. Although we moved out of Anchorage, we would not use this business again because of the damage to our personal items, and I hope this review will provoke him to have his crews be more careful in the future."

Professional installation in an average-sized room (approximately 150 square feet) typically requires one to two full workdays. Larger spaces or projects involving texture removal may extend to three or four days. Additional time may be needed for painting or staining if not included in the initial installation. Weather conditions can affect drying times for adhesives and finishes, potentially extending the overall project timeline.
Beadboard features narrow vertical planks with rounded ridges ("beads") running between grooves, creating a traditional, detailed appearance. Shiplap consists of wider horizontal boards with overlapping edges that create distinctive shadow lines between panels. Beadboard offers a more formal, classic aesthetic often associated with cottage or Victorian styles, while shiplap provides a more contemporary or rustic look popular in farmhouse and coastal designs.
Beadboard can work well in humid environments when appropriate materials are selected. Vinyl or PVC beadboard offers superior moisture resistance for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and other high-humidity spaces. Traditional wood beadboard requires thorough sealing with moisture-resistant paint or clear finishes to prevent warping or mold growth. MDF beadboard generally performs poorly in damp locations and should be avoided in these applications.
Beadboard can be installed directly over popcorn ceilings provided the existing texture is firmly attached and the ceiling structure is sound. However, testing for asbestos is essential for popcorn ceilings installed before the 1980s. Professional texture removal costs $1.30 to $2.50 per square foot, while asbestos remediation runs significantly higher at $3 to $7 per square foot. Direct installation over popcorn texture may affect the final appearance and requires careful planning for fixture integration.
Regular maintenance involves gentle dusting with a soft brush attachment on your vacuum or a microfiber duster to prevent dirt accumulation in grooves. For deeper cleaning, lightly dampen a soft cloth with a mild cleaning solution appropriate for your beadboard material. Avoid excessive moisture, particularly with wood or MDF installations. Painted beadboard may require occasional touch-ups or repainting every 5-7 years, while stained wood might need resealing periodically to maintain its protective finish.
