"Micah came and looked at the issue(s) I would like the original concrete contractor to address.  He showed me what needed fixed and explained how it could be done.  I asked him for an estimate because I do not think the original contractor will fix the problems.  He gave me a very reasonable estimate.  He also noted that the landscape work his company did last year wasn't up to par.  I was contributing extreme temperatures [near 100 in summer and minus 30s in the winter] to the landscaping issues.  He is going to bring in additional soil and re-seed the lawn without my asking [or any additional charge]!!!! 
On another note - I did tell him that he is not listed as "concrete work" on Angie's List.  "Hard scape"?? is the same, but not recognizable to customers!  He is going to change that, so everyone can enjoy the exceptional service Dean's Landscaping has to offer!

"They destroyed the old one that we attempted to put up. They hauled away the pile of rubble that was “supposed” to be a waterfall. They were on time, they were beyond courteous and helpful and quick. They did it in two days; they had it up in time for Mother’s day. The gates were kept closed; there were no cigarette butts on the ground. They let us know what they were doing. Jake talked to us several times before he got started so we knew what he was doing. They actually came out to our house right after the phone call to give an estimate. They gave the estimate. We accepted it, and they were able to do the work right then. "Meet with Alan and told him that I wanted to start over with my landscaping.  The only ideas I had were to removed 3 trees that had grown too close to the house and rebuild the retaining wall in front of the house.  Everything else was up to Alan.  He took measurements of my property and told me he would be back in touch with me in a week with a design.  He completed the design in a week and we met to discuss his plan.  The plan had a drawing of my lot, where plants would be placed, a description (with color photo) of each plant, and an itemized cost list..  I told him what I liked and didn't and he went back to revise the plan.  I agreed to the revisions and he scheduled me for late April early May.  About a week before work was to start, I told Alan that I was unsure about the retaining wall design.  He revised the plan again and suggested that I visit a stone supplier to view my options.  After the visit, I decided to go back to the original design.   
Unlike other landscape companies that have 8-10 people on your property, tripping over themselves, Rochell had an on-site manager and never more than 3 people on the job.  It took a couple of days to removed all the old stuff.  The retaining wall took about 3 days to complete, and about a week to re-cut the beds, trim the current shrubs, plant new stuff, and lay new mulch.  By not having an army of people of people on-site, I think there was a greater attention to detail which led to a "crisper" look when the job was finished.  Several neighbors have stopped by to commented on how good the new landscaping looks.
