"Left message with Badger to request quote for mudjacking and potential concrete repair in our garage. Had a callback within 24 hours to set up estimate scheduling. Wayne came over and was very upfront and personable, he gave us a quote for the mudjacking, and other options for the concrete (they don't repair concrete). He was also honest about not having to do a certain part of the driveway, wasn't worth the cost vs. benefit. Estimate was given the same day. <br /> <br /> I mailed in the estimate, gave them a call about a week later to verify if they got it, and Wayne informed me that they did and will be starting projects the following week. They indeed did, the next week we got a call that they would be there the next day to mudjack, which they did. Our driveway is a ton more even and we were very satistifed. <br /> We received 2 quotes and Badger's was lower, although the competitor quoted to do the entire driveway. We weighed cost vs. benefit and decided to just do the 2 slabs up to our garage. <br />"

"This is the second time we used creative masonry and I can't begin to say how outstanding his work is and how very pleased I am....Zillges who installed the gas insert said no one would be able to match the brick and people usually hide the missing brick with a decoration....creative masonry matched the brick and mortar perfectly and could not have done a more perfect job...we are now thinking of adding a fireplace on the patio and this is the only place I will call....not jut an A rating...truly A+++"

"We had to hire from afar (Madison), and this is where Angie's List was very helpful! Brian was impressive in that from the start he was very responsive. In the planning stages of the new driveway he was also helpful in giving suggestions. He struck us as knowledgeable, professional, and easy to work with upon meeting him. Anyway, in a nut shell, he poured the new concrete driveway (he had to remove layers of black top dating back to 1934), added new steps to the house, new window wells, and walkway to the front entrance. We are very pleased with the results! We would recommend Brian to others and hire him again in the future. Worth mentioning also, Brian was great at keeping us posted on the progress via phone calls and finished in a timely manner."

"Work began on May 30th as they removed stumps and old concrete that I was unable to do. Then they leveled, laid gravel, set rebar and poured concrete. Every step of the process was precise and professional. Arrival was always timely and each night before they left both sides of the street were cleaned well. The last sealant was applied yesterday (6/10). I was always treated with respect and any questions I had were concisely answered. I know the price seems high but this job was well worth it."

"Excellent job.  We are very happy with the results. <br /> I did not know much about siding, but knew we did not want vinyl siding. <br /> We called 3 contractors. One contractor did not show up for a quote.  The 2nd contractor just gave a quote and did not provide any explanation of the options. <br /> Now when we spoke with Tim from Al Borchardt & Son, he listened and provided explanations and a number of options I was interested in.. <br /> the other contractor did not indicate we could add more insulation or even tyvex, where Tim did. Tim wasn't pushy on the options, just set it out there based on what I was interested in. <br /> This was the reason we went with Al and Tim for the job. <br /> The work went very well,  Tim and Al were very good at making sure it looked good and paid attention to detail. <br /> The result was very good, we are very happy in the way it turned out. <br /> Also, when we had a minor issue with moving the Power meter, he spoke with an Electrician as to how we needed to get it moved the correct way.  They went the extra mile on this. <br /> Another item was that they paid extra care when removing the stone from the front of the house.  Tim put down plywood and straps to safely remove the stone without injury or cracking the concrete stoop. <br /> Also, another positive thing was they used USA manufactured materials. <br /> Over all we were very happy with the work and would recommend them to anyone. <br /> We even had a few neighbors comment that the siding looked really good and that they did good work. <br /> We made sure we got some business cards to give to anyone who asked. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Clintonville, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
