"It was a very pleasant experience! I called one day and the owner Nick Jackson called me back that day. He came the next day ! Our roof had a small leak so he accessed my roof and noticed a lot of hail damage. At that Point he talked me through how to file a claim with my insurance company . Once the adjuster scheduled an appt to come out , Nick met with him and they both figured out what needed to be replaced. We received an insurance check shortly after that and Nick scheduled his crew. They were fast , professional and installed an excellent roof. It was a very easy painless operation. I would highly recommend them !"

"Communication within this company is non-existent  The finished job was very poor quality and unprofessional.  The trim work was not finished properly. There was even a couple of places where they didn't even cut the trim to the proper length.  They tried to hide it with caulking.  The walls they put up were not cut correctly.  You could see the screw holes in it. They tried to cover up all their mistakes with caulking.  It looked like the workers had never used a skil saw before. 45 degree angles were a complete mess. I called and left messages on multiple occasions for the general manager of contruction to give me a call to discuss the issues I had with the quality of the work that was done.  He never called back.  I didn't here back from anyone in the company until they wanted their money.  The President of the company came by January 16, 2014 after canceling on two previous ocasions to finish the paper work.  I showed him how the job looked and even he said it was poorly done.  He asked why I didn't let them know of these problems.  I told him that I had called to voice my concerns many times but no one had called me back.  He came back on January 24, 2014 with the contruction manager and the project supervisor.  I showed them the many places where there were issues with the work done.  They all agreed that the work was not done properly and promised to come back and do it right.  We scheduled for the redo work to be done starting on February 3, 2014.  They called at 7:30am that day and said they were on there way.  At 10am they had not arrived.  I called to see what the hold up was.  The project manager said he was called to another small job and that he was loading up now to come.  He didn't arrive until after 1pm.  He did not have the supplies to do the job.  He only worked until 3:30, said he was sick and went home.  He even vomited in my yard.  After he left I looked at what little he had done and saw that he again was just caulking over the work to try and hide it.  I immediately called him back and said that the work he had done was not accpetable.  I also called the president and told him what had happened. I also asked that they not send that project manager back.  He was not capable of completing the work properly.  He assured me that the the job would be done correctly and that person would not be back.  The construction manager came back on February 5, 2014 to complete the job.  It took him the rest of that week and most of the next week to complete the job.  This time the job was done better but I am still not completely satisfied with the job.  They do not have skilled workers and they are not a contruction company.  I would never use them again.

UPDATE: The president of the company came by and offered us a discount for all the trouble we went through."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"My roof had developed a leak. I called Ramos Upgrades and an inspection was performed immediately upon request. The entire roof was replaced within one week from the inspection. The roof looks great! They cleaned up very well with no trace of any nails or other debris left behind. Price was well below quotes I had gotten a few months prior. I highly recommend if you need any roof work, call Ramos Upgrades!"

"Jo came to fix my roof within three days of the leak. He was fast, professional, and the quoted amount was what I actually paid. Hopefully I never need another new roof, but if I do it’ll definitely be with Turner Contracting."

"Let It Rain worked very hard with our insurance company to get necessary storm damage to our roof replaced. Let It Rain met with the adjuster and worked out all details with insurance company. Insurance approved for full roof replacement and Let It Rain had job complete within 2 days. The clean up from the job was unbelievable, looked as if no one had been on premises doing any work at all."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Coalgood, KY

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
