"We are purchasing a home east of Tramway and our buyer's agent provided us three options for a home inspector.  We selected WIN Home Inspection.  The key for a home inspector is that he has to work for you, and not the buyer or seller realtor.  Paul's level of independence, knowledge, thoroughness was very much appreciated.  During the inspection, he not only pointed out issues that would be called out in the final report, but also encouraged us to ask questions about each area to learn about our new house.  The final report provided a detailed list of issues clearly identified as to severity.
We also requested a radon test.  When he discovered the house would be open during the planned test period, he rescheduled the test to a time when he knew the house would be vacant and the results would be reliable - even though this resulted in two additional trips to the property.
One issue was so severe we requested the sellers to fix before settlement and Paul to re-inspect.   We needed to do this quickly as resolution of this issue was putting the planned settlement date at risk.  Paul made time to complete the re-inspection so we could move forward with settlement and also provided photos of the repairs and answered some of our followup questions."

"

it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related.

I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.

Really highly recommend them!

"My experience with them was very good. My only problem with them was when they were going to be late, they did not call ahead to let me knowand I end up waiting at the address for an hour before they showed up being that from Santa fe to Albuquerque is about an hour drive by the time they called me it was to far to drive back. Cost is sample dependent. The technician comes out and they test places in the home that may have asbestos and this is used to determine the price. So price would vary per home. The price for this was expensive but it was reasonable. At first I though they had great customer service but they just send out the technician to put down the radon and the radon takes 48 hours. Their report was great."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Cochiti Lake, NM

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
