"As usual, Dan looked over everything in the home and gave us a realistic view of the state of the property (not too optimistic and not overly pessimistic.) An older home is never going to be in perfect shape, and Dan helped us get an accurate idea of what issues this particular property was facing and when they might need to be addressed. He took all necessary COVID precautions, and was happy to answer all the questions we had for him and provided a wealth of information about systems and issues we were unfamiliar with. This is my 2nd time hiring Dan for a home inspection, and I would definitely hire him again."

"<p>The entire process was smooth from the day when I made the inquiry for what would be included to the inspection to making the appointment.  Don was our inspector.  I arrived at the home where we were interested in purchasing at the time he was supposed to arrive.  He was already there.  He must have arrived early.  He was very professional, and polished.  After speaking with him for a short amount of time, I could tell he was knowledgeable.  I called my husband and shared that I am so glad we are in good hands for our first home inspection.  I left and returned a few hours later.  He shared the full report with my husband and I.  He was very detailed and walked us through every step of the home where he found an issue or something that should be brought to our attention.  We ended up not moving forward with that home as there were so many issues but we do not regret the home inspection.  We are now finalizing a home purchase with a different home.  We thought of this company and Don again.  I called right away.  I recommend this home inspection to anyone. 5 stars.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>FYI, we had the home inspection, termite inspection and radon testing.</p> <br />"

"No problems with the quality of the work or the time it took, but it was surprisingly expensive. So much so that I almost regretted having the work done. The plumber found the shut-off valves inoperable and began replacing them without telling me about it or the additional cost. I should have looked over his shoulder more often and asked more questions, but I did not. Any repairman beginning additional repairs without asking really rubs me the wrong way and leads to a "B" rating at best and a "No" on hiring again. Learn from my mistake: make certain that you do your research on pricing and agree on a price range and scope of work with Geiler (or anyone, for that matter) before they begin the work."

"FABULOUS!!!  I only had 5 days to get the inspection scheduled and done... Maury was able to fit me in and he arranged for the termite and radon to be completed also.  Maury was very patient, paid attention to details and pointed out things I can see now, but hadn't seen before, even being at the house more than a dozen times previous.  He spent time and did walk thru verbal report with me on site, in addition to the written detailed report.  I felt very confident in his knowledge, ability and thoroughness.  I feel very confident in the information I now have because of the walk thru with Maury to negotiate some costly repairs before closing on this house.  He is truly a homebuyers "gem" in the Queen City. Thanks again.  I will definitely refer Maury to anyone and if this house doesn't work out, I will use him for the next house I buy! <br />"

"Bob was punctual, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about radon, radon mitigation systems, etc. Multiple options were reviewed with the pros and cons of each option discussed. I am very happy with the final installation and the system delivers on what it promised it would do (radon levels now below 1 pCi/L). <br />"

"He is simply the best.  You must go to his website and see an example inspection.  It will be exactly like this.  I bought a larger home so it was planned for a full days inspection. Typically, the inspection is 1/2 day and cost 600.  I also opted for the radon inspection that account for additional 200.   <br /> This guy was very through.  He took pictures of every thing and made it very easy to negotiate and also fully realized the repair cost needed.  He made it very clear two major items needed to be replaced, water heater and roof, also with several other items.  The water heater was clear, prior to the inspection, that it needed to be replaced so that was already negotiated.  The roof was a different matter.  the house was 19 years old and the roof looked fine to me.  The inspection was a different matter. He clear documented that the roof was in need a replacing.  we where able to negotiated this in the final round of negotiations because of home his documentation and inspection. <br /> He is clearly worth the money.  Also, if you want him, do what we did.  Ask for 14 days for inspection instead of the typical 10.  This will allow you to book him. <br />"

"We suspected a radon issue in our basement. We called the environmental doctor they promptly came to our home and set up a device to record the radon level. Our level was 17. Very, very high. They worked us in less than 2 weeks, repaired the issue, tested again and all was fine."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Cincinnati, OH

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
