Chewelah Painting was started in Chewelah in 2008 after relocating to Eastern WA, from Southeast Alaska. For years we have focused on delivering the highest standard of paint, stain, and special coatings for homeowners, builders, and business owners. Eastern Washington is our service area, from the Canadian Boarder to Dusty and Idaho to Omak. We serve the residential, commercial, government, tribal, and agricultural markets of Spokane, Stevens, Pend Orielle, Ferry, Okanogon, Lincoln, and Whitman Counties. We also accept large scale and difficult to access custom home re-paints, large scale deck sanding & refinishing and large scale home or log staining projects at Lake Coeur d’Alene and Priest Lake. As a company, Chewelah Painting is committed to constantly raising the skill level of our employees, and maintain a companywide training and feedback program. \n\nWe are know for lasting re-paints. A repaint is any paint job after the first. With a repaint comes lots of surface preparation. Washing to remove dirt and contaminants without damaging substrates or property, scraping to remove loose and failing paint, refastening trim boards, caulking and sealing for weather and appearance, priming bare substrates and questionable surfaces for proper adhesion and longevity, applying the appropriate amount of paint in thickness and number of coats, all play into why our paint jobs last as long as possible.\n\nOur deck teams are employees whose only job is to sand and refinish your deck and make it look awesome again, with our dust free sanding equipment. Once complete we can maintain that look for a fraction of the cost so you deck is always Barbecue ready. This is the only process we know of to give you the longest amount of life out of your deck coatings, whether it is paint or stain. \n\nChewelah Painting refinishes log homes inside and out. Our employees are trained and certified by Perma Chink on their recommended coatings application and processes. \n\nOur carpentry Division can install new siding, repair rot, fix broken facia boards, install a new door or window, flash a leaking window, build a new deck or fence. On the inside, we can install trims or crown moldings, install new doors for a fresh new look. Working with a single contractor on your repairs prior to painting means better schedule coordination, back to normal faster, and ensures everything meets our standards for quality and longevity.

My name is don rindahl. My wife and i relocated to the cda area august 2012 from milwaukee, wi. I owned and operated a general contracting business since 1997. The five years prior, i worked as a kitchen and bath designer for a premier design firm in the milwaukee metropolitan areas. My business specialized in custom interior renovations including kitchen and bathroom design and remodel, custom finish moldings, casing, base and crown. I also remodel spaces into recreation rooms and offices. I expedited all phases of the job. If i did not complete the trade work myself, i would coordinate the master tradesmen to complete permitted work. I have extensive knowledge in all phases of remodeling, inside and outside the home. I am also certified for safe lead removal. I come to you with a midwest work ethic, i am well spoken, i present myself well, i am an extreme people person, i consider myself an ambassador of the company, i do not have a criminal record and most importantly, i am drug free.\nMy mission statement has always been to work for a referral first and a paycheck second.

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Coeur D Alene, ID

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
