"Michael Ajakie did our first major renovation in 1999 completely gutting the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, master bathroom and installed hurricane resistant windows. Michael and his team were always on time, highly ethical and the quality of work was exceptional. His attention to detail shows in the completed project. When we moved to a new home, against my better judgment, we hired a client of my husbands to renovate an existing patio into a family room. It proved to be a big mistake. The contractor made so many costly errors and took over a year to complete 330 square feet enclosure. So when we were ready for a our next project in 2004, a total kitchen renovation, we called Michael because we knew we could trust him and would end up with a beautiful kitchen. His knowledge is priceless... He reviewed the plans we had drawn up by an engineer and discovered some mistakes that would have threatened the integrity of the structure and revised the plans thus saving us, yet again, thousands of dollars. I never question his integrity or the amount of the job because he is honest, fair, and gets it done the right way the first time. I'm done using anyone else and will always rely on Michael for any renovations I need. I highly recommend Michael Ajakie and his team!!"

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."

"I hired Blake to complete some work in my garage that a previous contractor had left in poor condition. It involved some sanding in one area, drilling a few large holes to run an extension cord through, and repairing some poorly done ceiling repairs. While I got one quote that was cheaper than Blake's, the other contractor didn't seem as confident or knowledgeable. Remember, cheapest isn't always best. I also had a quote from someone who wanted more than double what Blake charged. He kept me posted about when he and/or Brian would be here and proved to be reliable. He gave me very detailed explanations about what what was wrong and how he would fix it. One of the reasons I chose him over the other contractors was the large number of positive reviews on this site, and I'm happy to add my review to the list. I would, and probably will, hire Blake again if I need something done in the future."

"The technician did an excellent job. It did take a while to get the repair finished, but that was due to Bertazzoni delivering the parts. I have had multiple problems with this particular appliance. My range now works better than it did when new, but I have a feeling that even if I have continuing problems with it, American Home Shield will just repair rather than replace due to the cost of the range. By the way, I'm not exactly sure of the date of the repair."

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in College Grove, TN

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
