"John of Plymouth Nursery and Landscaping and his staff were wonderful. They did a terrific job cleaning up my property and planting all new beautiful shrubs and plants. Also installed a system to help with my water problem. My property was in desperate need of a face lift and John and his crew came through. I would recommend Plymouth Nursery and Landscaping!"

"Maria and her team were wonderful!!! They immediately responded to my Angi request and maintained timely communications throughout the scope of the project. They arrived on time, reviewed project details upon arrival and got to work. Finished mid-day and left our property cleaner than when they had arrived. HIGHLY recommend for others and will certainly keep them in mind for my own upcoming yard work."

"Jacob did a wonderful job mowing and edging my parents' 1/2 acre lawn after they had moved out and while it was awaiting sale. He was pleasant, easy to communicate with, and was conscientious about only mowing the grass if it was really necessary. His price was reasonable. We are very grateful to have worked with him! The home buyer was so pleased that they also wish to use his services."

"*  The top layer of grass was removed from the section between the fence and the driveway, but they didn't clear down far enough
to allow the Red Stone to set down in the ground where the grass had been.  The weed barrier fabric was put in place almost
level with the driveway, so that most of the Red Stone is driveway level or above.  This means that the stones keep falling out of
the border area into the driveway.
*  Rather than being removed, the weeds were just turned-over in the garden beds.

*  The pots were placed in the gardens as requested. However, more than 1.5  to 2 inches of mulch were installed  -
as much as 4 to 5 inches in most areas, totally covering the Vinca Minor plants in one bed. When I asked about the plants
having been covered over, Tom said they would be fine.   When I asked if they could spread any "extra" mulch in a bed located
on the other side of the house that also contains Vinca Minor, he said covering those plants is "not recommended".  I questioned
why, then they'd covered the same plants on the bed on the other side of the house.  He didn't answer.
*  Instead of "neatening or straightening" the existing beds in the backyard as I'd requested, they just edged those beds following
the edges that had grown in crookedly.
When I talked to Tom Garro about coming back to address the edging of the garden beds, he said that he was to "define the existing beds" and he said he'd done that and wasn't coming back.  I'm guessing he wasn't thrilled that on the day they arrived I'd asked him to place six pots in the back garden as well.  I don't know.  I just know that I had to try to uncover all the young Vinca plants that they'ed covered with 3 to 4 inches of mulch; and I had to try to straighten/neaten the edging of the gardens along the sides and back of our backyard.  That was frustrating because that was what we'd paid Land Details to do.

FAQs for trees & shrubs treat, protect and maintain projects in Collegeville, PA

The optimal transplanting season depends on your tree species, but most trees respond best when moved during dormancy. For deciduous trees, late fall after leaf drop or early spring before bud break provides the lowest stress periods. Evergreens transplant better in early fall or late summer when soil temperatures remain warm enough for some root growth. Avoiding transplanting during active growth periods helps trees direct energy toward establishing new roots rather than supporting foliage.

While technically, trees of any size can be transplanted with the right equipment and expertise, practical considerations limit what's reasonable for most homeowners. Trees with trunk diameters under 15 inches are most commonly transplanted in residential settings. Success rates decline as trees increase in size and age, with specimens over 24 inches in diameter presenting significant challenges and costs. For large trees, carefully weigh the substantial investment against the potential benefits and survival probability.

Most transplanted trees require one to two years to fully establish in their new location, with larger specimens often needing additional time. During this establishment period, the tree regenerates roots that were inevitably lost during the move. Signs of successful establishment include normal seasonal growth patterns, healthy leaf development, and reduced dependence on supplemental watering. The quality of aftercare during this critical period significantly influences long-term survival rates.

Self-transplanting is feasible for small trees with trunk diameters under two to three inches if you have proper tools and follow correct techniques. However, medium to large trees require professional expertise and specialized equipment to ensure tree survival and property protection. While professional services cost more initially, they achieve much higher success rates and prevent potential damage to your property or the tree itself. The investment in professional services often proves worthwhile when considering the value of mature trees.
