Customers say: True professional

"I would not hesitate to recommend D& M Repair to anyone!! Danny came when he said he would, looked at my dishwasher and said that the piece of rubber coming off was just noise canceling and took it off for me. He checked the dishwasher to make sure it ran okay before he left. Best part was that he said because it was so minor, that he would not charge me! Something that you never hear anymore; that’s for sure!! I will be calling him in the future and recommending highly to people I know. "

"We do not recommend AG Reliable Remodeling for any work from the simplest remodel to an addition. We had an addition put on our house by them. Allen Grome had a lack of communication and follow through after he got the job. There were numerous mistakes and issues, from structural mistakes to poor scheduling to not ordering required supplies in a timely manner - which all lead to delays and overages - there were too many issues to put into this review. However, pictures don't lie. So take a look at the quality of their work and decide for yourself. Additionally, their contracts are very vague and high level, they are not detailed, so there is plausible deniability on their part. Buyer beware!"

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Commack, NY

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
