"Jud knows his stuff and is quick and efficient. He is also very responsive and will get your job done when you need it and when he says he will. This is our 3rd or 4th time calling him back for something new and he will continue to be our go to guy for anything plumbing. I won't let anyone else in the house if it relates to plumbing, there IS a difference depending on who you go with, I've been on the other side of this when Jud wasn't doing the work."

"Jonathan did me real solids today. Despite the fact that they were here to clean up bascially messes left by the installers on my HVAC on both AC and furnace, he AGAN went ABOVE and BEYOND when he noticed I was doing my own plumbing project. We had hot water seeping out with our water main shut off on a fixture exchange, and he pointed out we can drain the hot water heater partially to stop this. The last plumber didn't eve care to share this, or even do it. I will not go ANY OTHER PLACE than Service Professor for my plumbing, HVAC and electrical needs. PERIOD. No one else compares!"

"Earlier in the day, I had made an appointment with Service Professor to have the disposal installed. I had everything organized and ready to go. All they had to do was take out the old one and put in the new one. Under the sink was cleared, the pipes were fine, and everything was ready. Regardless of my preparations, they charged me a service call fee of $59 and wanted to charge me another $300 for the installation. I called Budget Plumbing and did not have an appointment. Ryan, the owner, arrived in the early afternoon with a garbage disposal in case I did not have one. He went to work immediately, had the old one out in minutes, took the cord off of the old one to save me money, and installed the new one. Everything was done in less than an hour at a cost that was less than $150 and well within my budget. He guaranteed his work and said he would come out if there were any problems. He also tested the installation to make sure that it worked. Each item I paid for was a line item and there was not any fee for coming."

"Bathworks was a great company to work with. The install became more complicated than initially thought, but the installers took care of everything and the outcome was better than expected! They came back a few weeks later and fixed up a last few minute things and stayed in communication throughout the entire process."

"Loved working with this company. When I called for a quote, the person I spoke with gave me an ITEMIZED quote, explaining how much the water heater, parts, labor, and permit would cost, also adding that it might change once the plumber came out and saw our individual situation. He said if that happened, they would give us another quote and we could refuse services at that time (at no cost to us) if we needed to think about the new quote. He was very knowledgeable about their products and fully answered all of my questions. Scheduling took less than five minutes. They came out the next morning! <br /> My husband was on site for the installation and he had this to say about the plumber that came out: <br /> "He was friendly and professional and didn't pressure me in any way. Made it obvious up front that he was doing a walk through/estimate, and if i didn't like the estimate we'd be done, no charge. He also explained the estimate up front and explained the work he would have to do after doing his analysis." <br /> The actual cost was slightly higher than we thought since we needed additional duct work, but was very close to the original estimate. <br /> They weren't the lowest bid we got, but we decided to go with them because of how thorough and knowledgeable they were. We will see how the quality of their work, and the water heater they stood behind, holds up over the next several years. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Comstock Park, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
