"We had a three car garage concrete apron installed as well. Jim was professional and very informative when he showed uo to provide a quote. He answered all our questions and provided good feedback for the project. We knew after he left we would hire him. When he and his crew showed up to tear out our old sidewalk and asphalt, they kept the prjoject spotless. They were back the next day to pour the concrete and again, they were meticulous. Our patio and concrete apron turned out beautiful. I would highly recommend Concrete Images to anyone I know. Thank you Jim and your crew for a job well done."

"I appreciate Finnâ s reliability, and Duane did a superior job repairing our severely damaged concrete entrance steps. Both were knowledgeable, professional, and service-oriented. I am happy to give Empire Stone Masonry my highest recommendation for your concrete repair projects."

"Extremely professional in both customer relations and quality of work. Dale is a hands-on owner who delivers on his commitments and explains the process as it occurs. I happen to come from a concrete construction family (grandfather and father) and worked in the business for several years. I was able to "vet" Dale when he bid the job and found he and his business very impressive. I feel very lucky to have had DK Concrete replace our sad asphalt driveway with a beautiful concrete driveway."

"From beginning to end dealing with Patrick Miller was great: professional, friendly, committed to the customer, and great people doing the work. Dave Moshou was doggedly persistent in his service with us making us feel like he was watching out for us. The workmen doing the siding were very diligent and experts craftsmen. The siding placement was great with extra details that other professionals that we have had here said that most companies would not have done. And when there was follow up work needed, Patrick Miller was right there committed to getting it done in a timely fashion. People walk by our house and comment all the time as to how great the job looks. I recommend Patrick Miller to all who want to know. Thanks Patrick Miller. It is nice to know that great companies are still out there doing great work and taking care of the customer."

"My job was actually to have a stamped concrete patio installed. Overall, they did an awesome job! They were able to complete the job about a week prior to what they'd estimated, they arrived when they said they would, and completed the job within the time they said. They were very careful about placing plastic on the driveway and took care in ensuring they did as a little invasion to the area as possible. They were professional, friendly and easy to work with, and the finished product is absolutely beautiful. I LOVE IT! Every time I walk out and see it I love it more! Their customer service prior and subsequent to the job has been excellent. I'd recommend Custom Construction Services to anyone looking to have a patio installed."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Coon Rapids, MN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
