"Paul and the person answering calls and responding to emails in the office were always timely and punctual. I have found roofers to be the most difficult of the trades and often unreliable. This is most certainly not the case with Hoolahan. Every email and call was returned. Paul was on time for his initial quote, took photos of the problem tiles and showed me the photos from his phone. We initially contracted to just repair bad slate tiles on the house and garage. Then we expanded to also replace all gutters and downspouts. Eventually because we had recently installed a high efficiency boiler and attached hot water tank, we no longer needed our chimneys so we asked that they be cut down to roof level and capped. Finally, we added replacement of a small asphalt porch roof. Paul was communicative on when work would begin. He and his workers arrived when they stated. They worked without loud music and we never heard a foul word from them. In contrast to some other roofers, Paul's workers were all experienced mature men who knew the trade and the craft and carried out the work very well. I have only good things to say about Hoolahan Roofing and would most certainly use them again."

"This review covers a number of small and major projects over a number of years. I started to use Jason after a neighbor had his roof replaced by Pierce Remodeling. I have been extremely pleased by Jason’s work and HIS COMMITMENT to the business. What prompted me to do this review is that a couple or three years after the complete removal and replacement of my asphalt shingled (and complex) roof, I called him. I had a suspect area that needed attention and without hesitation, he came out the next day and repaired this small section that had been affected by weather or time. He inspected the rest of the roof to help assure it was A-Ok. I tried to pay him for his time, but he refused and stood by his commitment to stand behind the skylights, roof, gutters, putting screen on chimney, and attic fan that he replaced from the original construction. He is both a FAIR AND HIGHLY QUALIFIED business and without hesitation I recommend."

"After meeting project managers and obtaining estimates from several roofing companies, we decided to have Buccos complete our roof replacement. From the first meeting to the final shingle laid we were extremely satisfied. The entire team was professional, efficient, safe and attentive to our needs. Pricing was fair and reasonable. The job was complete in 2 days and cleanup was impeccable. I highly recommend Buccos to anyone needing roof replacement or repair."

"We are extremely happy with the services provided by Michael <br /> Whalen, his son Sean, and their crew.  No detail was given up on this gutter job. <br />   <br /> <strong>Estimate </strong> <br /> Let?s start back with the Estimate that started more than a month ago.  Michael stopped by the house to visit my wife.  He entertained us about our house and its long term potential. <br />   <br /> When I reported that the job that we wanted complete before the winter was upon us was just gutters, I expected some disappointment because I have had other contractors tell me they were not interested in small jobs.  Michael gladly jumped at the opportunity to take my gutter measurements and the estimate he mailed back to me was within our <br /> budget. <br />   <br /> Michael left us with a siding sample book that was very big <br /> and very detailed.  Though he didn't know if he?d ever hear back from us, he gave us all the tools to get on with our <br /> lives and possibly contact the next contractor.  <br />   <br /> <strong>Estimate Follow-up</strong> <br /> In the project estimate business --- follow-up is essential.  Michael followed up with <br /> a clean estimate in a PDF.  I have had such bad experiences getting contractors to write down their estimates that I <br /> was completely flabbergasted when we got an estimate on company letterhead. <br />   <br /> By the way, if you have happened to get a contractor that is not willing to provide an estimate on official company letterhead, they are scared that you will shop around, and are insecure about one of 3 things: <br /> <blockquote> (a.    <br /> They are insecure about their estimate because they <br /> are overpriced. <br /> (b.    <br /> They have a good estimate, but their work leaves <br /> little to be desired <br /> (c.     <br /> They are overpriced and their work leaves little <br /> to be desired (this one is the worst kind) </blockquote> <br /> You know you have a good contractor when he/she isn't afraid to give you a number and challenge you to find a better deal.  Angie?s List takes care of the work to be desired piece. You only have so many chances to make a first impression. <br /> <strong><br /> Day of Work</strong> <br /> I was not there the actual day the crew arrived but my wife reported that the whole crew was barely noticeable.  They worked quietly and thoroughly.  They were very kind and courteous. <br />   <br /> <strong>Completion Follow-up</strong> <br /> I received an email back from Michael asking if we were satisfied with the work. That was the finishing touch.  We were glad to hear back, and in the end, we were very happy.  <br />   <br /> <strong>Pictures</strong> <br />   <br /> As you can see I went up on the roof to check out the work at closer detail.  Even though most of the work was already visible, <br /> I decided to get up on a ladder and inspect the inside of the gutters.  As you can see, matching caulking fills all the holes perfectly and the end caps are nicely sealed.   I would have been satisfied with just white, but they went the extra mile.  Also, all <br /> the gutters have a perfect overhang that captures rain that would fall off from the corners.  <br />   <br /> If I would have shopped the estimate, I may have received a little better price.  But Michael and his gang hit all the important areas.  So, when you get a winner, you stick with it.  I expect that my next project will have Michael involved.  <br /> GREAT JOB GUYS!!! <br /> <br />"

"Wonderful - we had Prescott come out to inspect, quote us for repairs after we had another company replace our roof almost 3 years ago. We have had water issues ever since then. Our project was covered under the manufacturers warranty, but the crew and staff were courteous and professional. I highly recommend!"

"The crew at Burns and Scalo got us out of a bind. We are a small historical society with a home on the national register. We went with a low bid for our first roof and it was a mistake. The contractor sent people who must have never put on a roof before. The roof was a total failure. Burns and Scalo was recommended to us, came out and looked at the job and re-did it. They used better materials and for the same price as the last job, meven installed a new deck. It wasn't a large job but they made us feel like we were the most important client on earth. We will never forget what Adam and the others did for us. It was amazing. This roof was put on a year ago and we have had no problems at all. I wouldn't use anyone else."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Coraopolis, PA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
