"Ken did an amazing job rescreening our porch. He replaced all our old wood lattice with white vinyl lattice and rescreened our door. He worked meticulously over four days and made sure the job was done thoroughly. He also replaced our stair bannister and all the wood which was in bad shape. Ken made suggestions which were very helpful. And he was reasonably priced. We are very satisfied with his work and will be using him for other household projects. We highly recommend him!"

Small jobs welcome

"Michael did a great job on the repair for which we called him, even suggesting a method for the repair that I wouldn't have thought of but turned out to be perfect. All other aspects of our experience with Michael were first-rate too. "

"They were great they researched the requirements for a deck to meet code in Mahopac. They completed the job efficiently and the deck looks great. The stairs are safe and sturdy. Billy and Joe were very informative and hard working. I will use them again for other projects."

"It went very well. Jim and Dean are hard workers. They clean-up every time they work. They were always punctual and worked long hours into the night. <br /> Jim is a very conscientious, polite, business like, and appreciable person. Very easy to talk to and efficient. I highly recommend J and B repairs. The cost was reasonable, the materials were of the best quality also. <br /> If you hire J and B Repairs for your project I'm sure you will be happy with the results. <br />"

"It was 4 PM on a Friday night.  My husband was replacing the wax ring on a basement commode, when suddenly a pipe protruding from the wall broke off in his hands, spraying him and the entire bathroom with a shower of cold, clean (thank goodness) water.  We quickly turned off the main water supply (since the specific turn offs leading to that bathroom wouldn't BUDGE!) and got onto Angie's list.   Called the first "all A-rated" plumber/handyman, and, lucky for us, that turned out to be Darrell.  He had just finished up a long week's work, and although he had never had any dealings with us previously, agreed to rescue us from a waterless week-end. ( Remember it was late Friday, PLUS he lives in Endicott and we are located up in Chenango Bridge.) <br /> He arrived, smiling and friendly, within the hour, expertly sized up and resolved the situation, and was soon finished, much to our relief and gratitude.  As he left, we chatted about our families and got to know one another a bit.  We waved as he drove away, and almost had the urge to ask, "Who was that masked man?", the way the townsfolk always did after being rescued by the Lone Ranger. <br /> His 40-someodd years of experience certainly paid off for us, and we have already asked him to return to help us with other things around the house.  He really knows what he's doing.  We feel so grateful to have found someone who would put himself out to help strangers in need, even ON a Friday night. <br />"

FAQs for handyman service projects in Cortland, NY

Winterizing shields your home’s structure and key systems from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. By sealing drafts and tuning up heaters, you cut energy waste, extend the life of appliances and windows, and avoid surprise repair bills. A small up-front investment keeps rooms cozy and protects the value of your biggest asset all winter long.

Yes, it’s important to prepare your sprinkler system for the winter. Blowing out the lines and insulating above-ground parts keeps valves and pipes from splitting when temperatures drop. A quick winterization visit costs far less than repairing burst components in spring, and it ensures your lawn--and your wallet--stay in good shape once the thaw hits.

A full home winterization plan goes beyond sealing windows and pipes. You might schedule a home energy audit, cover outdoor furniture, service the snowblower, swap smoke-detector batteries, add outlet gaskets, and hang storm doors. Each step beefs up your home’s protection, cuts drafts, and lowers the chance of costly cold-weather damage.
