"The gentleman arrived on time He showed me what he was going to I chose the color. He said fumes would be like a strong paint smell, it would be best to keep the bathroom door closed and it would probably take 24 hours before the bath tub could be used. The tub looks new results were what I was looking for.

"I recently had 1st Security install a system in my new house and so far have been very pleased with all aspects of the system, from the initial estimate to the installation to the functioning of the system itself. Jeremy did our initial estimate and provided us with a thorough explanation of the system. I already had done a significant amount of research comparing Alarm.com to ADT and some of the self-install options, but Jeremy was able to provide even more information and help me to understand better the pros and cons of each approach. Larry did our installation and also was very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining each step of the installation process and providing me with a tutorial at the end. My wife and I have had no issues with the system so far. It is very intuitive, and we have been able to customize it to fit our unique needs. I highly recommend considering 1st Security for anyone looking at installing, switching, or upgrading their security system."

"Siding Repair Systems does an excellent job in everything they do. If something was seen that was a problem they brought it to our attention so it could be rectified by the next day. With our house that was a daily occurrence. With everything that was done the house is able to keep the heat or cold regulated. When you touch the wall you feel a neutral temperature, the cold or heat does not seep through the walls like it used to.The house is also more sound proof to outside noises i.e wind, rain, barking dogs, people working in the yard (mowing their lawn) early in the morning. Overall the house maintains its temperature making it a comfortable living environment. We love the Pella windows that were installed and plan to replace all windows in our house eventually. The design of the windows make maintenance of the windows very easy and safe."

"When I received bids for my recent deck project, Chesterfield Fence and Deck was not the lowest. It was, however, the one company that was consistently held out by friends, family, neighbors and co-workers as the best deck and fence company in St. Louis. On the strength of those recommendations, I decided to engage CF&D and could not be happier that I did. The project involved installing a new Veka deck and replacing a window with French doors. The deck installation was efficient and flawless. Despite the freezing temperatures, Neal and his crew did beautiful work and were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Once the door portion of the project was underway, it became evident that the project was a bit more complex than was originally contemplated (old homes with brick walls sometimes come with surprises). Despite the additional complexity of the project and the additional costs needed to complete it, CF&D honored the pricing in the original contract, cutting into their own profits to do so. Even more importantly, the company’s customer service was exceptional throughout the process (even when faced with an admittedly difficult customer). At one point in the project, a scheduling miscommunication resulted in a hole in the wall being left uncovered at the end of the day. Upon learning of the problem, the project manager, Steve Dudas, was at the house within the hour to personally board up the wall and ensure the home would be safe overnight. When I woke up to see freezing rain outside the next morning (December 23rd), I resigned myself to my home being a bit of a construction site over Christmas. Much to my surprise, moments later, Neal, Steve and their teams showed up and started working. I later learned that they had brought along scaffolding to tent the project if necessary to get it done that day. As impressed as I was that the team showed up to work under those conditions, I was even more impressed with the quality of the work they performed. Throughout the project I was told by everyone from the president of the company to the sales staff that CF&D’s number one priority is customer satisfaction and that they will always choose customer service over profit. They consistently demonstrated that they are willing to stand behind those promises. I could not recommend them more highly."

"Aaron and Alex of Hydro-Seal Restoration did an excellent job repairing issues regarding a water heater flood and a leaky pipe in the wall. The walls have been restored and painted well. They were personable, always on time and they kept me informed if they were going to be early or later than usual. They were a pleasure to work with and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future."

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Cottage Hills, IL

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
