"I had a serious problem with my pipes making loud noises; there was leaky pipe as well as leaky radiators.  Charles Gross was so friendly and personable that I was impressed and strongly felt that he would be an excellent choice to
correct my issues as well as service my boiler. I was correct. He did me a great service in which I cannot thank him
enough.  I will recommend him to anybodythat needs plumbing service as well as use him in the future for all my
plumbing needs.  I will be placing his information of my refrigerator for future use.
Thank You Charlie Gross.

"The project undertaken was to replace a 20 year old water heater with new and correct issues causing poor water pressure in a 60+ year old Chicago residence. Jan and Chris arrived on time and hit the ground running and never slowed down. The water tank was replaced and brought on line in less time than was estimated. If you admire good craftsmanship you'll love Vanguard, the pipe fitting and copper sweating are truly superior . It made me question what I received from prior service providers. As for the poor water pressure issue, I had convinced myself that the only remedy would be to have a booster pump installed. Our home has had remodeling of the plumbing on all three levels. So all the piping has been modernized and replaced with copper except for the holt/cold risers between the basement and the two bathrooms. After Jan had a look at the bathroom fixtures and the transitions between the new copper and the old galvanized riser pipes he had a different idea as to what would fix the pressure issue. He suggested replacing the valve system in the new shower that had mixing valve. And, replace the non-brass die-electric unions (connecting the old piping to the new), with brass fittings before spending the roughly $4000.00 to install a booster pump. As it turned out, at each point in this process Jan was right, there was significant blockage in the fixtures and DE unions. Long story short, I'm very happy with the water pressure at all of my fixtures and it cost a lot less in labor and parts than the booster pump! These guys know plumbing and that is evident in their honesty, workmanship and troubleshooting."

"We have been using Patrick's services since 2016 in our properties as well a relative's property. He has fixed things like unclogging a drain to major sewer repairs. Patrick is always available when we call and his prices are reasonable. He is very reliable and trustworthy, has the best prices compare to other plumbers and has diagnosed problems other plumbers have missed. I cannot say enough about this company. Definitely recommend and will continue using as well."

"Mattco has been performing repairs and regular plumbing maintenance at my 116 year old Chicago 2-flat for many years. Over time with experience I have gained trust in Mattco Plumbing to get me out of big jams with the plumbing in this old building. Just recently Matt repaired the 2nd floor toilet drain line in the ceiling above my 1st floor bathroom in a very tight spot. I have had other plumbers walk away from the repair or just wanting to do the band aide repair. Matt was able to replace the entire drain line above the ceiling. I watched him do the repair. It wasn't easy, but he got it done. I have peace of mind because I know the repair will last for ever. I'm in my 50th year working and owning an HVAC company. I know a good technician when I see one. I trust in Mattco Plumbing."

"Did a fine job. Very responsive and could have had someone out the same day. Our project was no emergency, so they came the next day. Arrived during the specified 2 hour time window. Took about 3 hours to remove the broken spigot, go to buy a new one and install. Also recommended an upgrade of a water shut off valve that will be a nice addition to prevent future freezing. Only downside is that the overall price was a little high. Upfront by the job pricing is nice if things get complicated, but you end up paying a little more than you should for simple jobs especially when they have to cover costs of getting leads through Angi. Overall, very happy with their work. The guys were friendly and helped me understand a little about how the work was being completed."

"The team at J Plumbing did an amazing job! Even when coming out for the quote they were very professional and knew the right questions to ask. They installed a Navien tankless water heater (which seems to be the standard in the industry as all three other companies quoted the same) with an 11.5 gpm water flow rate for THOUSANDS less than we were quoted by others. Since installation our hot water is consistent and never-ending! We are ecstatic with the results, and will look to J Plumbing for future needs as well."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Cragin, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
