"Jimmy was able to match up our 45 year old brick as close as possible and did a wonderful job cutting pieces for fill ins. If you didn't know the chimney was repaired, you would never notice the difference. Job was completed on time and as agreed upon in our contract. I will recommend J.R. Brickpointing to all of our friends that need brickwork done."

"We had firebox that was in desperate need of repair on an existing brick fireplace. Clark and his team rebuilt the firebox and installed an all new stone face to replace the previous brick design. It looks amazing! Clark kept us updated regularly on status and what going on throughout the project, which was refreshing after working with other contractors. We also had them repair the chimney stack and cap as we had found some issues with those and they did a great job on that as well."

"The bottom line for me for contractors to work on my home are: did they give me a fair price; were they responsive; did they listen to my concerns; were they honest in dealing with me; and did they do good work. Joe and John's Home Improvements just finished repairing my roof. They met and exceeded my expectations in the above categories so I would hire them again. In fact they are giving me an estimate already for additional work at my home. Some companies may tout their abilities with their high tech Web presence and impressive estimates. But I've found that many roofers have waiting lists of three or more months and charge more for work because they are subcontracting some of the work to small business roofers. Joe and John's Home Improvement is continuing to build their small business with responsive customer service, fair prices, and quality work. I highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"I was very impressed with Josh Hopkins’ work on my chimney. He went out of his way to communicate with me and be thorough and explained what needed to be done. He and his assistant had to put some very high scaffolding up and they were careful about doing it. Nothing was damaged. They noticed a couple chinks out of mortar between bricks along my deck that needed repairing also and I appreciated that observation and repair. And they left my deck nice and clean, taking the time to blow and hose it off. Once the job was done it looks so professional and beautiful. Before it was really bad with missing pieces and bricks missing and cement broken and now it looks like new."

"I was contacted by the owner immediately after finding company on HomeAdvisor. We were in a rush to have some cracks in between the bricks of our home repaired in preparation to complete the sale of our home. I was pleasantly surprised that the owner scheduled an estimate a few days later and even able to schedule to actual work just 3 days later. The price was also extremely fair in comparison to another company. The quick to respond customer service in addition to the fair pricing earned this company a five star review! I would recommend them and use them again."

Customers say: Quality work

"Our experience with Melnick s Masonry was great. We had them rebuild brick under our concrete steps, repair cracks in our concrete porch and refinish the surface and re-point our bricks. They did an excellent job, everything looks so nice. They arrived when they scheduled the work, finished in the time frame they provided and cleaned up when the job was completed. Plan to hire again in the future."

"Skimped on quality of retaining wall, not burying one layer of block in some sections. As a result, There are five gaps in the versilock wall on the bottom. I have reached out to him for 6 months to deal with this issue and have been met with delays and no response. <br /> Was rushed in pouring concrete. Some areas are not to code, i.e., proper depth. Corner of pour cracked two months after completion in December 2014. Contacted him immediately to have it corrected in the spring of 2015. Once again, was met with delays, excuses and the last two months no response. <br /> I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Cranberry Township, PA

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
