"DR Bob treated my tree for Dutch elm disease, as well as my shrubs for spider mites, and black spot. Definitely cheaper than replacing all my shrubs, which I was preparing to do. Prompt and professional. Fingers crossed, this works!"

"Provided root treatment for three trees (1 red oak, 1 live oak & 1 silver leaf maple ) to both root feed the trees and kill infections inside the trees - particularly the silver leaf maple.
The Silver Leaf Maple is about 26 years old and I was about ready to cut it down.  Bob White convinced me to allow him to treat the tree  September 2012 but told me it would talk until the spring (2013) to see the difference.  Both of the Oaks are substantially healthier and greener than similar trees on my street.  But the Silver Leaf Maple appears to be rebounding very well, and if I can save this very old tree, then I will be very pleased and surprised.  And right now - it looks as though it will do well.
Thanks Bob.

"We are so grateful we decided to use Emerald Lawns for our mosquito treatment this summer. Last year, we began fostering a little boy who had some pretty bad reactions to mosquito bites. We tried everything: a few different spray treatments from Home Depot, home remedy repellent spray, and DEET spray. Nothing worked. Every night he'd stay awake scratching all of his mosquito bites. It got to the point that we just had to stay inside since we didn't want to be in longsleeved clothes during Texas heat. We adopted him this spring so we knew we needed to do something. This year, Emerald Lawns saved us. They come to spray every several weeks and set some mosquito traps out as well. Our little guy can now run free in the backyard and enjoy the swingset without getting a bunch of mosquito bites! Thank you Emerald Lawns!"

"Wonderful! My live oak has never looked better! Not only was my tree given the trimming it needed but I was also given what I wanted! Excellent trimming and clean up at a very fair price."

"I had to call multiple times for scheduling my initial consultation. Justin gave me a quote for $550 for tree pruning in the front and backyard. The Angie's List coupon covered me for first $200 and I was to come with $350 more. I felt the quote was high with only one person working for 4-5 hours in terms of cutting, cleaning and hauling small branches. I manage to get quotes from other tree services as well and the cost was almost the same with crew size of four people working for half day which to me is more efficient with larger scope than outlined by Advanced Specialty Construction."

FAQs for trees & shrubs treat, protect and maintain projects in Crawford, TX

The optimal transplanting season depends on your tree species, but most trees respond best when moved during dormancy. For deciduous trees, late fall after leaf drop or early spring before bud break provides the lowest stress periods. Evergreens transplant better in early fall or late summer when soil temperatures remain warm enough for some root growth. Avoiding transplanting during active growth periods helps trees direct energy toward establishing new roots rather than supporting foliage.

While technically, trees of any size can be transplanted with the right equipment and expertise, practical considerations limit what's reasonable for most homeowners. Trees with trunk diameters under 15 inches are most commonly transplanted in residential settings. Success rates decline as trees increase in size and age, with specimens over 24 inches in diameter presenting significant challenges and costs. For large trees, carefully weigh the substantial investment against the potential benefits and survival probability.

Most transplanted trees require one to two years to fully establish in their new location, with larger specimens often needing additional time. During this establishment period, the tree regenerates roots that were inevitably lost during the move. Signs of successful establishment include normal seasonal growth patterns, healthy leaf development, and reduced dependence on supplemental watering. The quality of aftercare during this critical period significantly influences long-term survival rates.

Self-transplanting is feasible for small trees with trunk diameters under two to three inches if you have proper tools and follow correct techniques. However, medium to large trees require professional expertise and specialized equipment to ensure tree survival and property protection. While professional services cost more initially, they achieve much higher success rates and prevent potential damage to your property or the tree itself. The investment in professional services often proves worthwhile when considering the value of mature trees.
