"Ron fixed my refrigerator easily, then he looked at the dishwasher that was waiting for $400 in parts from Countywide. New Pump and main Board. This made no sense to Ron, He re-booted Board (former repairman did not) Ran a cycle, Board OK, pump not right. Pulled unit to install pump and discovered mice chewed some wires. He will return today to replace the wires, saving me $400 in un-needed parts. Really good mechanic that doesnâ t just change parts."

Contacted provider by telephone on 12/30/15 regarding repair. Was provided price quote of $60 for diagnostic service call. I had been given an estimate of $99 by the factory authorized provider but that provider could not come for several days. I chose All Appliance for the price and availability. The All Appliance technician (Michael) came out the same day.  He provided a repair estimate of $125-$135 and a parts estimate of $68-118 plus an additional senior citizen discount of 10% off.  I was told the liner would be ordered the next day (12/31) and I would be notified on when I should expect it.  I did not receive any calls back and started calling on 1/5/16 for an update.  I left messages at the office 3 times on different days with no return call.   I also left several messages at the number left by Michael as his direct number, also with no return call.  I finally reached them on 1/8/16 and was told that the wrong color liner had been ordered.  I contacted them again for an update on 1/9/16 and was told that Samsung didn't have the part and that it had to be ordered from California and that it cost $98. The part arrived and was installed on 1/13/16.  During the 2 weeks between the original service call and the repair, I could not open the left door of my French door refrigerator.  The charge on 1/13/16 was labor $135 and liner $118.  The  original diagnostic charge of $60 was deducted. The liner price was $20 more than I had been told it would be after it was ordered. We were not given the senior citizen discount that we had been promised.  I again attempted to call them to clarify the bill multiple times, leaving a message each time and not receiving a call back.  I finally reached Ashley, who said that the extra $20 was for overnight delivery and that the labor fee is not time based, just flat labor of $135.  She told me that I would get a refund for the senior citizen discount (approximately $20).  It has now been over 10 days and I have not received the refund.  I called again on 2/15 and 2/17, again leaving messages and receiving no call back.

In summary:  (1) I received several stories about why the part was delayed.  I suspect, but do not know, that the part was not ordered in a timely manner.  Therefore, they had it shipped overnight and charged me for the delivery fee.  (2) I never received the refund for the senior citizen's discount that was promised. (I was originally told that they did not offer one even though one is listed on Angie's list).  (3) Extremely poor customer service and responses to multiple messages.  (4) I was told verbally that the part has a 1 year warranty and the labor has 90 days warranty. No one would put this in writing although the invoice says that parts are only covered for 90 days.(5) The work itself was completed and the liner and door work fine.

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Crescent City, FL

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
