"The weather was not cooperative so the job took longer than anticipated. He also ended up starting a week later due to rain that had put him behind on other jobs. Don has great customer service skills, polite and kind. He returned calls or texts quickly. When he left each day he tried to inform me about when he would be back and what the plan was. He even came out on Father's Day to finish shingling the garage. He made sure he cleaned up each day and tried to have things neat and tidy. One day I was not there and my son said there was some debris that needed to be picked up in the backyard before my dogs could be allowed to run. He had a long way to drive and stayed late several days to get work completed. Overall I was pleased with the work and would recommend him to friends.

"Joe did an excellent job everything went smooth. He is very creative on the way he lays out the front porch, sidewalk and patio. It turned out better than I ever imagined it. Definitely would hire him on my next project."

"I contracted Marc Todd himself and set up appointment for him to come over to measure and view the proposed project to provide me with an estimate. It was a little confusing at first, as he has a brother doing business as Jeff Todd Concrete.
Marc Todd was very prompt, and came out the very next day after I made contact. I was very comfortable with him right from the first meeting. He was very kind, professional and just plain and simple, A VERY NICE MAN !! He listened well to what I wanted to achieve as far as an end result which also included troubleshooting an ongoing water problem. This water problem had not been solved by our last concrete contractor. Marc was very much more knowledgeable, and seemed to effortlessly troubleshoot and ultimately FIX the water problem.
I asked him for references of prior jobs, and he gladly took me right to the places of other concrete pours that he had done. I was extremely impressed with not only the amount of concrete work he had poured in my area and the excellent looking work he had preformed, but was most impressed with how well liked he was by his previous customers. All of them greeted him like he was a longtime friend or family member. I knew when you have that kind of rapport with people you can't go wrong. And I was right as I am now one of his satisfied customers that truly look forward to running into him and getting a chance to visit.
I had four estimates done all together, and his was not the cheapest , but it was no the most expensive either. His price was within reason when compared to the others. I feel that I actually got a much better job than I would have going with someone else for sure. You get what you pay for and in this case I feel like I got a bit more.
He did an excellent job on my project and more. It is gorgeous. He actually came up with a few better design solutions than I originally had planned. AND NO MORE WATER PROBLEM. He stayed within in his original estimate, even though he made a upgraded change that would be better for my situation. He completed the work on time as well and worked hard at "fitting me into his schedule" as I had a party planned that I needed it completed by. He was TERRIFIC to work with. The best contractor I have EVER done business with actually. By the time he finished his job our whole family just loved him !! A GREAT PERSON that really cares !!
I will be using him again next summer for another project we are now planning. I have recommended him since to some friends of mine, and they are just as pleased with their whole experience and with MARC TODD CONCRETE AND MARC TODD AS WELL. I recommend him 100% and I am a very "fussy" customer to please.

"We drew up an idea of what we were thinking about and he took our idea and brought it to life.   We are so happy with it and so our our animals.  It's been a few years old now and it holding up just great and I am glad we agreed on a metal roof as he suggested and a gutter system.

"Miller Building Company is the most professional remodeling company I have had the pleasure to work with.  I hired Miller Building Company to finish a bathroom update and I had initially hired a 'handyman' to do.  I let the handyman go when the quality of work left much to be desired.  Miller Building Company is very detail oriented and worked with me to finish the job to my satisfaction.  Miller Building was always on time and kept me informed throughout the job.  They take the extra steps needed to get the job done, get it done right, on time and on budget.  They were respectful of my home and took extra care to minimize disruption caused by construction.  Each person I interacted with from Miller Building was polite and professional.

"The work went very well.  We had a few rain delays, but that could not be helped.  Also we were coordinating other work with another contractor (see R and R Concrete) that sometimes caused delays. They showed up when expected, excavated one side of the house and dug holes on the other (walk out basement) for the piers.  When finished the yard was repaired as good as could be expected for St Louis summer. I have a little work to do on it now that it has cooled off. I had to have cracks repaired inside and concrete work done on the outside.  The people they recommended did wonderful work.

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Curtis, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
