"Shotty work, wrong drain system installed, exposed underground pipes could be seen. Upon calling the company, owner did return to cover the pipes correctly, but refused to change the drain system to French. Insisting it was the correct one even though standing water could be seen on the ground. Ground was left unleveled Did return to cover pipe, refused to change drainage or return a portion of the fee paid unfortunately I had to hire another company to correct system and install stepping stones. ( pictures would not upload, I cannot in good conscious recommend this company for landscape project using with pavers and irrigation system."

"The plan on this job was to protect the pool from collecting debris with a plastic tarp. In the demolition process, the crew damaged several coping bricks. The framing, rebar, concrete pour and stamping went otherwise OK. They were late removing the tarp due to needing to work on the brick, and it later rained, covering the tarp with water. Joe offered to cover the coping brick damage, sending a guy at the end of other jobs to chip the broken bricks out over the course of the coming week. He damaged a finish tile. Also, the number of “damaged” bricks seemed to increase as we went along. We were not able to remove the tarp when anticipated due to the additional coping demo, and it stayed on over the rains leading up to the 4th of July weekend. Joe's original plan was to clear any water from the surface of the tarp with a submersible pump, removing the debris along with the tarp. This did not work due to the amount of water that had collected. He cut the tarp to remove it, with the debris falling in the pool. After a few days of brick chipping, I started asking for a new schedule. Joe told me to call the office. I asked this question repeatedly, sharing my frustration with the way the job was going. She eventually told me to talk to Joe when he arrived with the crew on July 9. When he appeared on the 9th, he went back to check on his guy and quickly went back to his truck. I flagged him down to give him a spare finish tile and ask my scheduling question. He drove away while I was talking, indicating that he had to get to another job. I waited for a while, then called the office to complain about being disrespected and still not having a schedule. I was angry on this call, but did not yell or use profanity. Joe returned to my home later that morning. I opened the door when I saw him. He came at me with balled up fists calling me names and threatening to beat me. He felt I had been inappropriate with the “seventy year old woman” who answers the phone at the office. He threatened to beat me again, called me some more names, and walked of the job. I have a recording of most of this interaction from my Ring doorbell camera. This was an $8000.00 job. I have paid everything save $650.00 that was due at the end. I will likely incur expenses that exceed this amount in having the work completed, if I can get a contractor to finish the job. Additionally, my pool service company indicates that they will charge $1500 to clean the construction debris and another $1500 to restart the pool. There will be additional expense in replacing the water to be drained in the cleaning process. So if you don't mind a contractor that bullies his way out of a job with threats of physical violence when things go south, Houston Solid Concrete is for you. Otherwise, steer clear. They only get 1 start because 0 is not an option."

"We waited probably longer than we should have to write this review, (but better late than never, Ernesto!) We were very impressed with the immediate work begun upon our acceptance of their reasonable quote, and did not stop til the big job was complete! All the workmen were polite, dressed in uniform, matching logos on everything, and on business cards, website, instagram, facebook, signboards, new trucks - very impressive! Hard to say what impressed us the most about the owner, Ernesto Fernandez - not just a landscaper with a business - Ernesto has VISION - he is a true landscape architect! He envisioned what we were not able to imagine in our lovely back yard on the water, complete with existing quaint detached gazebo. Once the connecting gazebo wall, (leading to flower beds) and additional back patio was added, they installed a dedicated irrigation system to the flower beds then at the end filled all the beds with the most colorful array of summer flowers, plants and even a row of Cyprus trees which created a natural wall of beauty. They installed a neat wiring system on the back wall so that ivy and climbing flowers could grow and even came back when some of the sprinkler heads needed adjustments, and at the end, replaced the heavily trafficked grass area with new sod. We have been enjoying his work for the entire summer. Now that fall is here, we easily replaced some of the existing fading summer colors with deep colored flowers and added new mulch to freshen up what was done in May. And in a day or two, we had it looking amazing and were able to do it all ourselves! Ernesto has many photos of our property we'd love for you to see. Everyone who sees the work is amazed at how lovely it turned out and some, when they see only the pictures, don't believe it is our backyard - they think it is a park on a lake! IT IS PERFECT!! THANK YOU for everything, Ernesto - fantastic job!!!"

Besides the cosmetic issue, we felt this subsidence was also a tripping hazard. After researching online and using Angi, I found GROUNDWORKS (formerly FSS: Foundation Support Specialists) who came out to give an estimate. Ricardo showed up on time with advanced warning of his ETA. He was thorough and left me with a color-coded bid. Some of the driveway and sidewalk leading to the front door were going to be lifted, and some parts stabilized using the foam injection method. Even though I received bids from 2 other companies, I chose GROUNDWORKS for their 5-year warranty and mid-level pricing. All companies were 4.5 stars or higher on both Google and Angi. On the job day, they arrived on time. The job was completed in about 2 hours. I am very happy with the results."
