"I began working with XtraCare through the RiverSmart homes program, when I contacted them for a quote to refinish my NE DC rowhouse backyard with permeable pavers and replace an unstable retaining wall. Due to the cost of such a project, I did not hire XtraCare at the time. As a number of other reviewers mention, stonework is expensive, but you understand why when you see how hard the crews work and the scale and weight of the materials involved. After talking with a few other contractors to decide on a less expensive project scope (gravel instead of permeable pavers), I contracted XtraCare for an estimate - and to my surprise, they gave me the best price and a great design. XtraCare did an excellent job with the project - they used high quality materials, and the crew worked hard and had a good attention to detail throughout. They even got the job done despite COVID shutting down the regional economy towards the end of the project. I also appreciated how communicative and responsive XtraCare was throughout the process. We did have one hiccup when they switched my project manager and an important detail was missed, but they corrected the problem promptly and switched me back to my original manager (Cleber, who I recommend highly). I definitely recommend XtraCare."

"We contracted with Ms. Lily and the MA Landscaping team to redo our back patio on Capitol Hill in DC. The original patio had a dilapidated fence, an uneven brick floor, and overgrown shed. The moment that Ms. Lily stepped into the space, she had a vision for safeguarding the historic nature of the patio while integrating a modern look. She was receptive to our ideas and offered her own, which allowed us to come to a great combined vision. She didn't try to oversell us or pressure us into taking dramatic, expensive changes that weren't important to us. Throughout the project, Ms. Lily was hands-on, responsive, and receptive. The work was completed in 2 weeks. Her workers were friendly and when unexpected developments arose, they quickly sought our input as well as hers. Ms. Lily visited the property each day to inspect the progress. The final result was a patio that exceeded our expectations! We were thrilled by not only the end result, but also the journey to it. "On my shared driveway I noticed the concrete culvert was beginning to erode and shift. The crew came when scheduled to repair the culvert. The drainage area needed to be reshaped and have stone added to help with erosion issues. A cement footing was created to help hold up the concrete tubes and than concrete was packed in around the tubes help hold them in place. The job took several days to complete. I am very satisfied with the overall work. There was a lot of work put in to make the finished job look good and it does look good. I am giving a B for quality because the trucks they parked on my yard left large ruts in my yard. I watched the workers kick leaves over the ruts to hide them. When I complained they sent some one back to fix the ruts. That some one came back and with his foot kicked the top of ruts off, jumped back in the truck and left. I still have ruts that I will fix with my shovel and rake in spring. Such a shame. I will defiantly use them again in the future."

"We had an excellent experience working with Mike Erickson and his team from DC Patio. They removed the old concreate patio at the back of our house and installed a new large flagstone patio. They installed a new front stoop and a new front walkway. They performed a new drainage installation. They installed new footings for the deck posts and added decorative gravel under the deck area. They improved the back lawn grading. The quality of job is great. We highly recommend Mike and his team."

"This is the second time we hired Jim and his team with Victor and all their folks. They did an absolutely fantastic job (again) for a very fair price. In our backyard, they removed some rotting wood stairs and replaced them with Techo-Bloc paver stairs to match our other Techo-Bloc stairs. They covered a boring cement front porch and walkway with beautiful flagstone and rock caps. They removed a rotting front porch railing; corrected some errors from the original builders by actually adding 6x6s in the columns; wrapping the columns; building beautiful metal white/black railings; and added a gate so we can allow our pooch to safely sit on the front porch. They even went over the top by sealing our driveway, so everything matched. Highly recommend this company. Thanks, Jim, Victor, and crew!!"

"We had a small deck and were given advice to replace it with a patio to both save money and expand the space. We had been thinking about what to do for several years and kept speaking with contractors who were more interested in selling us what they wanted rather than what we wanted or needed. Freedom Fence and Deck came to our home and asked what we wanted, listened carefully, understood our price point and gave us a great solution. He patio is beautiful. The steps out the door are wide and look great. When the work was being done I noticed some small adjustments we wanted, and he accommodated the changes without complaint and with only slight adjustments in costs to cover additional expenses (like railing for the basement steps). We had tons of rain and he worked around it. They cleaned up and reseeded the grass where it was needed. I am beyond happy.
