"Started off a little rough, but the crew figured out what needed to be done and got it done. They were professional and listened to how I wanted things to be done. Very happy with the results."

"We had an excellent experience. They came out and gave us a very fair quote. I felt no pressure while deciding on what design we wanted. They day of installation could not have gone any smoother. They are a very professional competent team. The fence is exactly what I had hoped for, we now have a little oasis of a backyard."

"It new addition looks great. I could not be happier with the look, the installation, and the project cost. The job was completed with no mess. I am happy with the project. The installation team picked a great stone that goes with our home's look. Thanks for a great job."

"Jamie, the owner, is great to work with.  He provided ideas and helped us develop a final plan for the walkway and small patio.  We have a detached garage so the walkway goes from the deck about 40 feet to the side entrance at the back of the garage.  His stonework crew was efficient, and very skilled.  They first removed the existing slate walkway that was on a sand base and had shifted a bit over the years.  It also sloped down to the garage and was very slippery in winter.  They dug out the area and poured a concrete base, then installed the flagstone.  The walkway has two curved edges that are perfect, and the crew put in two small steps so the sections would be level.  The crew also ensured that water would drain properly away from the garage.  They took away the old slate, cleaned up everything and even washed down the paved alley behind the garage.  The stone work took three days.  The second crew that tilled the yard and put in sod was also excellent.  They asked about FIOS and Comcast cables.  I knew where the the FIOS cable started and that it was about 8 inches below ground.  They carefully dug up the cable so they would not cut it with the tiller.  They they re-buried the cable.  They also put in an underground 4-inch drainage pipe from a downspout with a pop-up drain near the rear of the yard.  Our yard is not big - the work area was maybe 30' x 40'., so they completed the sod work in one day. <br /> I highly recommend Divine Landscaping.  You will be dealing directly with the owner; he has experienced workers that have been with Divine for years; pricing is very reasonable; workmanship is excellent; cleanup is thorough, and Jamie and his crews pay attention to detail, and ask questions whenever there is an issue to be resolved.  We are very pleased with the final results, and have received many complements from neighbors.  Divine Landscaping is terrific and will be first on our list for future landscaping work."

"Mejia Landcare does great work! We were in the market for a spring cleanup and reached out for an estimate. Jesus was prompt and friendly, knowledge of our plants and had a can-do attitude regarding everything we wanted done. His pricing was similar to what we paid a different provider last year, and in this time of inflation, that was appreciated! Scheduling was easy and the crew showed up first thing on the date scheduled. The crew leader was easy to talk to and shared Jesus' positive demeanor and willingness to make sure we were happy with the work. We have a fairly large property with numerous planting beds, and the crew worked diligently to pull weeds, hand edge with a shovel, trim shrubs (and pull out of couple of dead ones), and blow out leaves and other debris prior to spreading Preen (which we provided) and mulch. Everything looks great and we are very happy with the work and the experience. They will definitely be our first call in the future when we need landscaping services!"

"I got three quotes for installing the patio and driveway, and Miguel was the first to answer my call and was the most competitive. He was extremely flexible in determining the time, and his team did a great job with minimal damage to my garden. The most impressive part was the time needed to complete this work. Not only me, but also four of my neighbors were also impressed and made the decision to hire him for a similar job."

Customers say: True professional

"Robeto Pacano and his crew extensively restored flower beds in the back and front yards by laying down weed block and attractive large stones, trimmed trees that were overgrown, established a large gravel parking pad on the street, resodded an eroded area in the back yard, and installed undeground drainage pipes to take water away from the house and back yard down to the street.  They are creative and profesional, and prices are reasonable for the work involved.  As my son commented, the back yard now looks like a photo from a magazine! <br />"

"Excellent. For such a large project, it made sense to plan it out. We paid for a design and went back and forth a few times. Cleber and Angela are the owners and experienced designers, which made the process go very well. They came out to discuss the project with my wife and me several times. Bryan supervised the work and was hands on. His skill and expertise made a big difference, for example in ensuring the yard was inclined correctly to drain water away from the house. Unusual amounts of rain unfortunately dragged out the project by a few weeks but that was not Xtracare’s fault. Xtracare was particularly impressive in two areas: the excellent quality of their installation and their customer service and responsiveness. I found it very easy to contact the office and was confident I would hear back right away. The final result continues to be very satisfying. We turned an ugly parking lot in front of our house into a new space that we can enjoy. Neighbors repeatedly tell us how nice it looks. We also received the maximum rebate of $2,500 from the Montgomery County Rainscapes program, which was very easy to apply for. We qualified for the pavement removal and for adding sod. Don’t hesitate to apply for the rebate. And don’t hesitate to use Xtracare for any project, large or small!"

FAQs for sod installation projects in Damascus, MD

Seeding costs less up front, but you’ll wait months—and sometimes a full season—for the grass to fill in. Sod costs more per square foot, yet it gives you an instant, usable lawn the day it’s installed and needs far less care during the first year.

If speed and early curb appeal matter, the higher sod price is often worth it; if you’re watching every dollar and don’t mind the wait, seed can still be a smart play.

Start by sketching your lawn and breaking it into rectangles or circles. Measure each section, multiply length by width, and then add all the sections together for the total square footage. Standard sod rolls are two feet by 1.5 feet, and one pallet covers 450 square feet.

Divide your total area by 450 to see how many pallets you need, then round up—extras come in handy for cutting around curves or mistakes. Still unsure? A local sod supplier or installer can confirm your math before you order.

Most sod grips the soil within 10 to 14 days. During that stretch, keep foot traffic to a minimum and mow only if the grass gets tall. After two weeks, the roots should be strong enough for light use, but wait six weeks before heavy play or frequent mowing. Giving the grass that short honeymoon helps it anchor firmly and sets the stage for a durable, healthy lawn.

Give your new lawn two full weeks before any foot traffic, then stick to light use only. Hold off on vigorous play, parties, or regular mowing until the six-week mark so the roots can dig deep. Keep watering on schedule and watch for any dry patches. A little patience now means stronger turf and fewer repairs later.

Keep an eye on color, moisture, and even growth. Fresh sod should stay uniformly green; brown spots or gaps hint at dry soil or poor contact. Water deeply at least once a day for the first week (more in hot weather) and back off gradually after the roots take. Avoid heavy foot traffic until the grass feels firmly anchored. Quick attention to trouble spots now prevents costly patches later.

Aim for spring or early fall when daytime temps hover between 55°F and 80°F. Mild weather and consistent moisture help the roots knit quickly. Laying sod in midsummer can stress the grass, while frozen winter soil blocks rooting altogether.

If you must install outside the ideal window, budget extra time for watering and tending to the turf. Choosing the right season makes the job easier and the lawn tougher.
