"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. "The whole project went very well! They came to inspect our awning and immediately provided a quote, which we accepted. The next day they picked up the awning and took it to their shop. Two weeks later, they brought the awning back and reinstalled it. The work was done well, the workers were skilled, experienced and professional. I would be happy to work with Awnings Unlimited again!"

"It all started out well after purchase of the initial Angie's list deal.  We promptly agreed on a date and a gentlemen came to measure and start the paperwork. Install date was set for 11/5/15. On 11/4, I was called about setting an install date.  My response was I already had one for the next day. Long story short, the company did not bother to tell me they had cancelled my appointment, they just acted like I never had one.  It was as though one side of the business did not know what the other side was doing. Since I made arrangements to be home on the 5th, I was not happy.  We finally settled on the 12th and the installation went smoothly enough.  However after completion, I noticed the installers had broken a piece of moulding in front of the patio door.  I know they realized they cracked it because they used clear caulk as a fix. I called the company and they said they would replace.  As of 11/30, the moulding still has not been replaced even though I was told the installer was picking up molding on 11/17.
I will say the person who came to measure and the lady who did the follow-up calling were professional. However, I can't say the same for the install side. The contact person was nice enough but he did not contact me to say the install was cancelled and to me it's taking way too long to replace the molding the installers broke.  I view it as a lack of integrity to cover up breaking the piece and not bothering to say anything to me.  The patio door is beautiful and I had planned to purchase a front door from them but have changed my mind.

"9/25/15 Update: I would like to amend the review below which I originally posted last June. No one asked me to do this. The owner had tried to reach me several times after reading the review I posted below, but because I was having some issues retrieving messages on my phone, I actually didn't get his message til several months later. The owner told me this review led to some internal conversations about the way things are done there and they decided to revise their policy of refunding half the $175 estimate fee once they get the job. He's informed me they will now refund the full amount. I felt we had a productive conversation and I was impressed with his professionalism and desire to improve his company by listening to constructive criticism.

I hired Mr. Handyman to replace an old set of sliding glass doors at my mother?s condo, which was going on the market. The installation seemed to go fine, but it was the back office operations that left me feeling frustrated and wasted my time.
After the estimator came out to take the measurements, I waited over a week to get an estimate. I finally got them on the phone and learned that the cause of the delay was that the estimator had left the company.
After agreeing to the quoted price and scheduling the job, I made a specific request of the staff that on the day of installation, the
installer be ON TIME because I cannot be late for work. She assured me that being on time is something they always do as a matter of course.  I also worked out special instructions with her for the installer to return the key to a neighbor since I would not be there when they wrapped up.
Despite the special request, the installer arrived 15 minutes late because he could not find the condo complex, even with GPS. He also seemed completely unfamiliar with the instructions about who to return the key to, so I had to go over it all again with him. This made me late for work.
When the installers were done with the job, they left no invoice, requiring several more phone call reminders to their office.
Keep in mind Mr. Handyman charges $175 for an estimate, unlike any other contractor I know. Only half of it is refundable if you give
them the job. The purpose of an estimate fee is to no doubt reduce the number of people who waste their time with estimates. I think giving estimates goes hand in hand with being a contractor and certainly if you?re given the job, there is no reason to pocket half the fee.
The staff person said I could take up the matter of the estimate fee later with the owner, but of course you?ll lose all leverage if
you wait til after the fact like I did. When I did bring it up again, I was told that the other half of the estimate was deducted from the price they?d given me for the installation. Of course, this wasn?t indicated anywhere on the estimate and I?m sure this was a convenient way to duck out of refunding the other half of the fee.
I?m satisfied with the product, but not at all with the service. My time is as valuable as yours, Mr. Handyman, and I spent way
too much time chasing things down that should have been done automatically, and certainly more promptly.  This was not a
good customer experience.  This could have been mostly avoided with just a little bit of effort by the back office and more transparent policies regarding the estimate fees but I didn?t get the idea they cared one way or the other"

"Tim came and gave me quote to paint half of our house, mainly the common areas. We provided the paint. Tim (owner) and LeeAnn were polite, professional, and extremely talented painters. Absolutely no tape involved and their line work is fantastic. Barely any mess at all, and they cleaned up after themselves after each day. Great job and a very reasonable price. Will definitely hire again."

FAQs for metal awning or patio cover installation and replacement projects in Danbury, CT

Yes, you can paint your metal awning using oil-based paints to give it a fresh new look and protect it from corrosion. Oil-based paints are durable and help preserve the awning's structural integrity. Keep in mind that painting an aluminum awning costs $2.50 to $3.50 per square foot. Be sure to hire a painter who specializes in awning painting to get the best results.

Metal awnings are incredibly durable and offer excellent protection against the elements for your home. They resist sun, rain, and snow, keeping your space safe and comfortable. Stainless steel and copper awnings provide outstanding longevity and structural integrity, while aluminum awnings are more affordable without sacrificing performance. Plus, their sturdy construction can improve energy efficiency and boost your home's curb appeal.

While metal awnings are durable, they can be more expensive than other types, so they might not be ideal if you're on a tight budget. They also offer fewer customization options compared to fabric awnings, so you might have limited choices in style or color. Additionally, metal awnings are fixed in place and harder to adjust, so you won't be able to raise or lower them easily based on the weather.

Yes, metal awnings can increase your home's value by enhancing its curb appeal and providing more usable outdoor space. Their sturdy design not only improves the look of your home but can also contribute to energy savings. If you opt for motorized awnings, they add a touch of sophistication that can be especially appealing to potential buyers when you're ready to sell.

Metal awnings can last 20 to 30 years with proper maintenance. To keep them in good shape, regularly clean them with a vinegar and water solution a few times each season to prevent buildup and corrosion. If your awning has electronic components, be sure to service them routinely. Taking care of any damage promptly will help your awning perform its best and extend its lifespan.
