"Very satisfied with cost and workmanship.  Original contact was to repair wind damage on shingled roof.  Unlike other roofing contractors I contacted, the response was fast.  The 40 plus years of experience showed as the temporary repair was done immediately without any hassle of cost.  The cause of the wind damage was shown and explained as improper nailing of shingles. To my surprise it was suggested, that because of a current materials special, it would be more cost effective to install a new metal roof over the old shingles rather than replacing the old shingles.  A new metal roof, with all of its advantages, cheaper than new shingles! <br /> I said I was interested, and they took a lot of measurements.  A couple days later I received an estimate via E-mail. I also asked about financing.  The only option was  like a credit card application (5% up front and high interest after 1 year).  After working out alternative financing from my bank, I then responded via E-mail to proceed.  They came out again and made more measurements. They wanted advanced payment for the materials with final payment upon completion. <br /> A couple weeks later the new metal roof install began.  It was a three man crew, they worked professionally, took their time and did it right.  The weather caused multiple delays extending the work over about 3 weeks.  The new roof is impressive, several people stopped by to ask for name of contractor. <br /> <br />"

"After receiving estimates from three local contractors, we decided to go with AMB. They were not the cheapest quote, but I liked the personal touch that Charlie, one of their job managers, was able to provide. He came to write up the estimate at night, when I could be present to talk to him. The other two estimates I received were done at the contractor's convenience, and were left in my front door.  <br /> The work started when they said it would and they were done with the roofing within 1.5 days, and the gutters came a few days later. At one point of the job, the crew had run into rotted sheeting caused by improper insulation installation, and Charlie called me at work to come take a look at the problem before they proceeded to fix it. I really appreciated this, since I was actually able to see the problem that required repair,  rather than just taking their word for it and forking over an additional $1k when the job was over for a problem I never got to see.  <br /> The crew cleaned up around the house very well - I still find small bits of shingle while landscaping, but this is probably unavoidable with any roofing job. The gutter install went smoothly, and I am very happy with my new oversized downspouts (no more cleaning out clogs).  <br /> Overall, I am very happy with the work AMB did on our house, and would hire them in the future for any other renovations that come up. <br />"

"John's was the first of 4 bids we got for this project; his price was not the lowest, but it was definitely competitive. He was however, the most responsive of the 4 companies <strong><em></em></strong> <strong><em> </em></strong> <em><strong>by far</strong></em> <em><strong></strong></em>: availability for getting an appointment set up to come by and price the project out himself (instead of sending a sales rep), timeliness in getting us a proposal the very same day, and ease in getting questions hammered out via phone and email promptly throughout the project. He's fun and easy to work with, and we felt lucky to have connected with him. <br /> We were nervous about getting roof work completed in MN in the cold late November, and John was able to move mountains to get things rolling quickly. After getting a couple more comparison bids we called to let him know we'd like him to do the job - he immediately got to work locating shingles that very afternoon and he scrambled his crew of 8 years over here to start <strong>the very next morning</strong>. It was stunning. He was even willing to drive all over town to multiple stores to get enough special order shingles without delay. Ultimately we decided to go with another brand instead, but he clearly demonstrated a willingness to go the literal extra mile or 10, and I saw that quality multiple times throughout the job. As it turned out that that was the very last warm day this year, and I don't know if John has a direct line to Paul Douglas or what, but he made sure we were able to take advantage of it. <br /> His team of guys (5 or 6) showed up right away the next day and got to work with the tear off. They made quick work of it; meanwhile John and I went out to Edco together to select and purchase the drip edge to coordinate with the soffits and fascia. As I mentioned, we discovered a few weeks prior that our kitchen was venting into the attic crawl space rather than outside, and later that afternoon John ran to the hardware store to personally remedy that while the crew finished up. The entire process, including removal of 2 layers of roofing and clean up, was over and done before 3pm. We told John we have a lot of neighboring kids playing in our yard, and he and his crew did a great job rolling the yard for nails and getting debris up. I found ONE nail, and I'm not even positive it was off the roof to be honest, so I was very pleased with the level of care they took. <br /> We had the gutters done on site on a separate day by a sub, and he did a great job on the install, which was relatively quick and easy. Then we got to the lead abatement and soffit/fascia work, which was 2 days plus about an hour (short days this time of year) and involved all the pain-in-the-butt EPA protocols, which were done to a T. The back soffit is about 4" deep and his subcontractor Tony was able to do custom soffits for us, also same day and on site. He even replaced a missing siding corner for us. I've been up on a ladder installing Christmas lights, and his attention to detail is good. <br /> Overall, we are extremely happy with both the process and the final product. John is a pleasure to work with and when we are ready to do more exterior work he'll be our first and only call. <br />"

"In October I talked to this company who came over the same day to look over the prospective job.  The Contractor, the owner of the company, was very pleasant and  processional.  We settled on the price and he wanted half down which I paid him via check.  Since then he has called several times to inform me about delays in getting to my project due to other commitments he had but kept promising he would be over soon.  However, since the middle of November I have not heard from him and wondered if <br /> he was actually coming.  Well just after I wrote this in November he called and came over the next day.  He apologized  and gave me a <br /> discount on the price of the work due to the delay which I thought was very fair.   During the work he found several problems mainly with the lack of water shutoff valves.  He patiently explained the need to install them and the cost involved.  Other problems related to how the house was inadequately constructed were explained and repaired with my consent and supervision.  At the end of it all the work was done courteously, with attention to detail, professionally, and with something I find lacking in today's society, exceptional craftsmanship. I highly recommend this company to all who wish quality work done on their homes. <br />"
