Customers say: Super punctual

"After initial conversations with John, I hired ASAP to complete my lead inspection for a recent property that I acquired. John was able to answer all my questions and address all of my concerns. Chris came out to complete the inspection within 48 hrs of my request. He was very thorough in his report, which I had in my hands in less than two days. I was able to hand over the report to the removal company that I ended up hiring. When the job was complete, Chris came back out within 48 hrs of the request to complete the reinspection and tests. I have no concerns with ASAP and would definitely use them in the future. They were very quick to respond to me and address all of my questions and concerns."

"We were selling our house and the radon test came back high so we needed quick and effective service. The appointment was scheduled a week from our call. The technician arrived on time and helped identify the best location for the system that was both effective and as aesthetic as possible. The install went quickly and he took the time to explain how it worked and what we should look for in terms of monitoring and maintenance. Overall, it was a good experience."

"Our experience with Titan Lead Testing was fantastic. Dave returned my phone call promptly and was able to schedule an inspection for the next day, which was great. He showed up on time and was very personable. He did an incredibly thorough job both in testing our home and in communicating how to interpret the results. This is not our first experience with the lead abatement process, as we went through it for our apartment previously, and even so his guidance was very helpful. When it turned out we did have some lead abatement to do, he provided some leads on companies to get in touch with for removal and also collected dust samples to give us a sense of what we were dealing with. 110% recommend. <br />"

"This is the third time I have hired Peter Larkin, and he did not disappoint! Just before leaving on a vacation of several weeks to the West, my tenant informed me that she is 20 weeks pregnant. I was certain that the 1900s 2 BR 1 BA condo we were renting to the couple had lead in it, so I obtained a lead inspection from ASAP Environmental (also excellent) and found that there was a small amount of lead in the kitchen windowsill and 2 doorjambs that needed removal. In the building common areas, there was also a small amount of lead in the basement doorjamb and wainscoting touch-up needed in the stairwell. Despite recently having experienced a death in his family, Peter was able to get our job completely done (lead paint removal and repainting), re-inspected, and in full compliance prior to my tenant's return. The job passed on the first reinspection, and the crew left everything neat and tidy. I am so grateful for his reasonable pricing and his professionalism."

"We were recommended to Harvard Environmental by our realtor. We called them in a classic “first time homeowner DIY project panic” state of mind, and before even talking about scheduling a visit, they took some time to explain likely risks and soothe our nerves. A comprehensive inspection was performed and a similarly comprehensive report was delivered. Harvard Environmental then took time to explain each type of lead hazard present in our home, and helped us find a contractor to assist in the removal and remediation. Their attention to detail and responsiveness were very appreciated by two frazzled homeowners, and we very much recommend their services!"

"The entire experience was A+ from start to finish. Todd did a fantastic job expaining the process of lead paint abatement, the pros and cons of different approaches and step by step timing. His quote was very detailed, easy to understand and was lower than another potential company I consulted. <br /> My job was challenging from start to finish but the team at Alpine managed through it all. For example, my house closing date was delayed and Alpine went on hold until I was ready. In addition, the house itself is technically challenging - it's a 100 year old concrete home with many round rooms.  The Alpine team was able to manage through the challenges and create a great result. <br /> Jason, Toby and the team working at my home were lovely - it was a pleasure to see them every day. <br /> The end result was fantastic - they rebuilt woodwork around the windows with all of the detail (perhaps even better?) than the original. Other workers who came in to do other work complimented the craftmanship.  The entire job was done with great quality and timeliness.  <br /> There were a few little things that needed to be taken care of afterwards, but as within days of calling, the team was back out and addressed it immediately. <br /> I would whole heartedly recommend Alpine! <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Danvers, MA

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
