"I had a same state move done with American Relocation. They came highly recommended from a close family member which helped in pushing me with using them. I have not used a moving service before, so naturally I was a bit worried at first. David and his team were hard working and got the move done the same day. For all the hard work they put into my move, I feel they made things a lot easier for me. I am very happy with how the move went and I would recommend their service to anyone."

"The movers arrived between the scheduled arrival time and went to work immediately. Moving in the middle of winter is not ideal; however, moving in below freezing temperatures with snow and ice on the ground is doubly difficult. I was impressed with how they wrapped the furniture and packed everything in the truck. The move started at 9:30 am and was completed between 1 - 2 pm. Overall, the move went well."

"Move was great! Packing not as good. We are repeat customers. I moved from my townhouse into a single-family home about 2 years ago. i did all the packing myself and took the boxes over in a U-haul. I hired G&J Movers to move the furniture. They did a *fabulous* job. No damage to either house. So, when I moved again two weeks ago (into a larger house), I hired them again -- this time to pack and move. Again, they were excellent movers -- not damage to either house or to any of the furniture. They are not, however, very good packers. We are a military family and have moved 11 times in the past 25 years, so we have a lot of experience with packers & movers. The first thing that bothered me was that the packers are the same people as the movers. Professional packers have a different skillset than professional movers. I have two criticisms: 1) efficiency/excess packing material, and 2) disorganization/labeling. 1) - Efficiency: Professional packers can get my entire china and crystal into 3 dish packs -- it took this crew 6. They wrap everything in an excess of paper and put LOTS of wadded up paper on the bottom and between each layer. The good news is, nothing broke -- and this is the most important. The bad news is that it took them about 33% longer than it should have and they used about 33% more materials than they should have. This means the cost of my pack was about 33% more than it should have, as well. 2) Organization - When I unloaded the kitchen boxes, the coffee pot (which was altogether the morning of the pack) was disassembled and located in three different boxes. My knife block was in a book box labeled "canned" goods. Items that were in one drawer wound up in several boxes. Items that were in one cabinet wound up in several boxes. And everything from the kitchen was labeled "Kitchen - very fragile." It made it hard to find the *essential* items in order to get the kitchen to function quickly. In the office, we left the necessary cables with the monitors, but the wound up in different boxes. So - everything made it to the new house, and it all got there safely, but I feel like I overpaid for the pack because the packers weren't trained properly, and it was hard to unpack because things were disorganized and boxes were not labeled in a way that was useful. So - bottom line: I HIGHLY recommend G&J for moving services, but I would consider hiring "real" trained packers for the pack portion of your move."

FAQs for in-state moving service projects in District Heights, MD

Laws differ from state to state, but the number one rule is that you cannot move a mobile home on your own. You have to hire a licensed mobile home moving company. While each state is different, you’ll also have to research HUD codes, permits, and other laws specific to the area to ensure your move follows all necessary regulations.

Yes, a permit is required to move a mobile home. You must secure permits in the state of origin and in every state through which the mobile home passes. When moving across state boundaries, obtain a permit for each state. Your moving company assists in acquiring all required permits, ensuring strict compliance with local regulations during the entire relocation process.

No, you cannot move a mobile home built before 1976. Mobile homes constructed before 1976 do not meet current safety standards and must not be relocated. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development enforces strict guidelines that prevent moving older models. Verify the build year and comply with all HUD regulations to ensure safety and legal compliance.
