"John is a skilled tradesman, arrived a tad late, but was casual and confident. Looked at the task, said the estimate would be by the hourly rate ($80 an hour if I recall correctly), and made two trips to finish the task, a few hours each time (two different areas so that worked out for us). Asked us to check his work before he left, methodical and exact workmanship. I really like this guy! The exterior wall is over 40years old exposed to the elements, and he patched any breakage in the mortar, fixed any separations and finished the area where a new window went in. After everything dried, does not look obvious that any "patch" or "repair work had been done- blends right in! Knew the stone product (no longer available) and how to make it look new. We were really satisfied!

"Project #1: The patio paver repair went well. The structural changes should eliminate animals burrowing under the patios and steps leading from the upper to lower patios. We were very pleased with the final product.Project #2: The complete water feature project is still a work in progress. The natural features of the stream and the pond are exactly what were presented to us in the initial design. It is 100% better than the water feature we had installed 12 years ago. The feature fits seamlessly into the environment. However, we are still working with Naylor on leaks in the stream bed. Naylor has been working closely with us to repair any problems. They guarantee their work, and they have consistently kept an eye on this project over the last 2 months. The crew that worked on this project was professional and proud of their workmanship. They arrived early and accomplished each goal they set for the day. They listened to our suggestions and incorporated changes as the project moved along. James Whittaker, the Landscape Construction Supervisor, is professional, cooperative, and goal oriented.Be aware that any modification to the original design may have a cost. Be sure to raise this issue if changes are to be made."

"I reached out to Tom from Professional Horticultural Services for a bid in April. His was somewhat expensive but fairly reasonable given the size of the gardens and number of perennials. He showed up on time for the estimate, e-mailed a detailed one shortly thereafter – complete with two money saving ideas (e.g., using old bordering materials). Tom told me he’d return with a couple of workers in May to do the work and he stayed in touch to schedule an appointment with the city to check on gas and water pipes in the ground. Next step -- Tom called first thing this morning and was here at noon with a two-man crew, as promised. They were meticulous and courteous. Before laying the final mulch, they had me check on the project. This proved helpful because one area seemed a bit thin. Thus, they moved one hosta from another area of my yard to fill that void. Professional Horticultural Services provided attention to detail, with quality plants. Tom has a terrific eye. He put down three smaller yellowish plants in one area and when the project was complete –they popped. The two guys on the crew – Kenny and Aldo executed Tom’s plan and then cleaned up after. They worked hard. You would never had known that I had a small crew of gardeners in and out this afternoon with a large truck, a dozen plants and a boat load of mulch. My yard is beautiful thanks to them!"

"Not so good. The end product is good but struggled starting with getting an estimate. Estimator did not appear to be experienced. Called and scheduled for an estimate. After inspection, was told I should receive estimate in a few days. Over two weeks, I received nothing. Called and left a message. Received a very vague estimate. Called a few times trying to verify they were going to do what I was requesting. I agree to have work and was told I needed to put a payment down before work scheduled. I called office and used credit card to pay deposit. I was told I would receive a call. Time goes by and no word. I called and was told I was on the list but time frames vary and it might be in May. I was told they would call me a week before etc. On a Monday morning a little before 8 I receive a voice message indicating they would be out in a few minutes. They were at my door a few minutes after 8 am. I explained I did not know they were coming to do work that day. Worker asked if MIDIG was called. They did not call and I had not called. I didn't call since I did not know when they would be doing the work. The supervisor stated they would work in the back yard that day. They would call Mis Dig. The next day they came back and started the work in the front yard. I asked about MisDig, they said they were told to do the work. I provided them a map for my sprinklers. A little while later, my cable and internet went out. Note I work from home. I had to use a MIFI to continue my work. They ended up cutting the line 4 times. They fixed it but I was concerned about the quality since it had been spliced so many times. The worker wanted me to stay until he fixed the cable but I had to leave. I called and explained my concerns. I was told they would contact my cable/internet service. They called back and said they scheduled a repairman to come out and check line. They said the cable company said it should be fine. The next day the cable/internet company came. Lectured me about not calling MisDig. I asked them if the line was ok with the repairs and I was told no. The line had to be replaced due to the amount of splices etc. DeVisser did agree to pay for the repairs. Next I had my sprinklers turned on and found out that DeVisser damaged my sprinkler lines 3 separate times. Note I had given them a sprinkler map from the company that installed the sprinkler system. They didn't even tell me that they had damaged those lines. I know the workers felt uncomfortable due to doing the work prior to MisDig having a chance to come out and mark the lines and probably didn't want to tell me that they also damaged the sprinklers which they had a map."

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Dowagiac, MI

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
