"Existing plants (azaleas and iris) were moved and replaced without a problem. Carefully worked around old wisteria vine without issues. Wall was installed exactly as expected. Encountered unexpected problems with plugged existing drainage pipes which needed to be replaced. This was done at a minimum of extra cost and the replaced drainage system was better than the one originally in place. This understandably delayed completion of project by about a week which was otherwise on time and within budget. Staff was pleasant, knowledgeable and accessible. I definitely would use them again."

"Lazaro and his crew members, Fidel, William, and Issac, transformed our back yard from being a dirty and unpleasant hellscape where my wife and I never spent any time to being a beautiful and clean space where we can host parties, cookouts, and relax. The crew was extremely professional, organized, thoughtful, experienced, efficient, and communicative throughout the course of the project. I was quite impressed with their design and planning skills, extensive experience, and passion for their work. My wife and I own a small row house with a small back yard, which presented unique challenges to the crew: no back yard access except through neighbors’ properties. The crew handled this challenge well by being communicative and friendly with my neighbors and always cleaning up the space at the end of each working day. They always ensured that the fencing and hardscaping looked good from both sides of the property line, so that my neighbors were also happy! Another challenge was that an adjacent property is about 3 feet above grade and not pleasant to look at from our yard. Lazaro’s planning and vision for a beige brick half-wall, topped with wooden lattice flower boxes was a great finishing touch that provided a beautiful transition between the red brick paver patio and the elevated wooden fence to block the view of the adjacent property. The crew carefully planned their work from the beginning, so that there were no surprises at the end as the finishing touches were put on and the fence was erected. My wife and I are also confident that the money we spent on this work will be a great investment—not only for enjoying our new home, but also in the resale value some day in the future. "After finding Tillerman Gardens online and requesting an estimate for substantial hardscape/landscape work on our newly renovated house, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Jesse, the owner, actually grew up in our neighborhood! On top of being a Takoma Park local, and an all around friendly, honest, business owner, we also came to learn that he does great work as well! His team completely transformed our hardscape areas, including installing a beautiful flagstone walkway and patio, a perfectly graded cement driveway, iron railings on our steps, and plants in a number of locations. On top of that, some of the work required some touch up and sealing and Jesse and his team have come out a couple of times later this spring to do that work unprompted. There's a little bit left, but I know they'll be around to finish it as they've taken care of us every step of the way. Even better, everything was done in budget. Look no further! "The work was done well overall, but I had to remove some large concrete pieces from the sloping areas around the edges. The original diggers had buried these close to the surface, which would have made landscaping impossible. This was not Jerry's fault, as they did not follow his instructions to break these up, and add them to the substrate rock under the patio base. There were delays due to the very bad weather, out of his control, but the re-scheduling needs could have been communicated better, in my opinion."
