"After a hail storm, I contracted EZ to install a new roof. The rep was easy to get ahold of 7 days a week, and ran my questions down fast. The crew did an amazingly quick job on both of my buildings, and after they had finished and left, a few laps around the property showed zero evidence that they had ever been there! Well done, EZ!"

"A few years ago, I had used SPS Roofing on a commercial job, and was happy with the finished job. Recently, I called them for my own house which required replacement of shingles. It was a smooth transaction. I selected from a sample of shingles. The crew arrived within two weeks, removed the old shingles, and replaced with new more attractive shingles. The job took two days. They did a complete cleanup leaving no trash or debris. Two sattelite dish antennas had to be repointed, which was professionally done, and at no additional charge. <br />"

"My mailbox fell apart and could not be repaired. It needed a new post and everything. This occurred the first week of December and although the ground was not yet frozen, I was concerned that it could soon become frozen.  This is Wisconsin, after all. I called all the highly rated handyman providers, and they all were booked for at least two weeks and some were busy through January or February. I decided to take a chance on Property Image, even though they had only a few reviews. The entire process went really well. They could not set up an available date for three days or so, but they communicated with me so I knew they were coming. I also could not be there during the work, which was not a problem for them. They offered to buy a new mailbox for me, but I wanted to choose one myself. I bought one (they purchased a post), and left it on my front porch in the morning. I came home that evening and it was installed perfectly, just the right distance from the street, level and sturdy in the ground. The landscaping around the post looked like it was barely touched. They billed me about a week later. It all worked out and I love my new mailbox <br />"

"C&T Siding replaced six windows in our stucco home this summer with new Marvin Infinity windows. All trim fit perfectly against cabinets and kitchen wall tile. C&T Siding did all the staining and finishing of the windows and trim prior to installation to match our original window color. These windows are expensive, but this is the second batch of Infinity windows we have installed in our home due to their quality and the quality of the installation."

"The entire process was super easy from start to finish very professional and excellent response time with questions or potential issues. They came out and suggested to remove the old insulation from the attic (mineral wool, vermiculite with <1% asbestos, fiberglass bats) and spray 2 inches of closed cell foam on top of the sheet rock to make R14 and seal up any other open areas (which were many) with cardboard and spray foam over the top of it. Within minutes of spray foam they blew in cellulose over the top of that at a depth of around 12 inches to give me a total R value of 50 or greater. They also gave me a warranty in case the cellulose were to settle too much and they would come out and top it off to give me enough to make R50 again for up to 5 years. My only complaint was that one of the workers came into the home without notification and surprised my mother who was still in her pajamas which embarrassed her, he came in to use the restroom. Then the worker decided to walk around in areas that were difficult to access and walked over a very expensive rug with his shoes on. Otherwise the overall experience was great. Blower door test prior to sealing the attic was 1720CFM and after sealing with closed cell spray foam the test was ran again and it dropped to 958CFM. I would definitely hire them again!"

"The project couldn't have gone better! A new purchase for me, this 1910 remodeled home was badly in need of gutters to drain the roof runoff away from the foundation. I received some quotes from local vendors, but settled on this contractor primarily because of the cost/quality benefit, especially for a covered gutter system, and also the Angie's list reviews. They scheduled the work promptly and gave me the anticipated installation date and confirmed the date as it approached. They were a bit behind schedule on the day of install and a call to inform me of that would have been nice, but that was the only (minor) issue of an otherwise flawless project. Once the work started, the installers worked very hard, and in not very nice weather as it turned out (snow and sleet in April!), to complete the job on time. They were extremely professional and courteous, kept the work area neat, worked steadily and very hard and took time afterward to walk the job with me to make sure I was satisfied with the work. The finished product looks very nice and I am very pleased with its performance. I anticipate many years of  NOT having to get up on a ladder clean out gutter mess! Highly recommend the product and this company! <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Dresser, WI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
