"<p>We selected Holton Bros. because they had a great reputation for the work they do.  They were definitely not the cheapest but they are the company we had the most trust in doing the job right.  We wanted to trust the contractor would do the job right and we did not want to ever have to deal with this issue again so we were willing to pay more for Holton Bros. craftsmanship.  Matt provided us with an estimate and explained everything they would do and that there were some unknowns that would need to be tackled after demolition of the old porch.  <br /> <br /> </p> <p>The guys showed up and really got after it.  They removed the old sinking cement and removed the old brick façade. Reinforced the porch area with rebar so it would not sink in the future and poured the new porch.  They put up a gorgeous new brick that all the neighbors have commented on and then poured a new cement walkway to replace an old sinking brick walk.</p> <p>The Holton Bros. crew (headed by Darwin) was very professional and really did exquisite work.  The actual invoice came in right around the estimate Matt put together despite the fact we picked out a much more expensive brick than we were replacing.  Holton Bros. did not require any money down upfront.  They sent us an invoice after all work was completed.</p> <p>We would definitely recommend Holton Bros. to neighbors, friends and family.  They do great work at a very fair price and we trusted them throughout the entire process (which is priceless) to correct the shoddy work done by the original builder.</p> <p>Big thanks to Matt L., Darwin and all the other Holton Bros. crew members that pitched in to repair our home!<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"Everything went very well. Had to reschedule a few times due to weather. The team that came out to grade was very polite and friendly. The team that came out to pave was very efficient, only taking 1 hour of disruption on our quiet little dead-end street. No mess remained. Outstanding. The price was a bit higher than other quotes, but we got what we paid for...a better quality job."

"We've been considering getting a sump pump and drain tiles installed in our basement for a while. Every snow melt and heavy rain brought on stress that water would get into the basement. We had Standard Water and a couple of other companies come out to give us estimates. Ted from Standard Water was friendly, knowledgeable, and zero pressure. The Standard Water quote ended up being the most reasonable and we felt confident that they'd do a great job. The drain tile and sump pump installation took 8 hours (9 AM - 5 PM) and the concrete took a couple of hours the next day. The crew was down to business and left the place as clean as they could given the messy job they were doing. The system comes with a lifetime guarantee which is an added bonus."

"We contacted them and they repaired the hole and also put in a drain tile.  There was a question about whether there was another source of water leak and they came back to test the integrity of our foundation and found that everything was ok.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Sometimes there was a delay in getting a call back from them and a delay in having them come to do the work.  When they did come, the work was done well."

"I hired American Waterworks for crawl space encapsulation in my home. I highly recommend this company, there top notch, professional, courteous, kept the work area clean. Shane is a representative with the company and helped me through this crawl space encapsulation process, he made sure I understood everything, what the job entailed from start to finish. Then I met with the job foreman on installation day, the installation crew were professional, courteous, and did a fantastic job (my crawl space looked like the pictures in the book they sent me). The crew worked hard to get the job done and finished the job ahead of time. After the job was completed, Shane followed up with me to make sure I was happy with job and if had any follow up question. This company does a lot of work with crawl spaces, basements, and their teams are very knowledgeable. I would not hesitate using American Waterworks."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Dresser, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
