"They were very professional. They came in matched my color to the cabinets perfectly. If you want a big project that involves your kitchen cabinets refacing I highly recommend The Home Depot. I never went to the store everything was done in my house. Great Job."

"We selected Kepner - even though the price was a premium over the next bidder - for exhibited knowledge, professionalism, and quality of the product in the show room.  As is I assume is often the case with large jobs like this there were a few surprises along the way - a cabinet showing up broken, the soffit removal revealing pipes that needed to be covered, and a few other miscellaneous gotchas.  None of them were extreme and we felt that each time there was a surprise that was revealed, Mark Kepner responded with integrity and did not gouge us for any extra added cost.  As the job proceeded there were a few surprises we gave him as well!  The decision to add lights under cabinets, install new light fixtures, add a back splash, and even hang new doors.  Each time Mark was responsive to our needs and did his best to accomodate us in his schedule.  He was able to perform nearly all of the jobs himself with minimal subcontracting.  Overall the job took the bulk of the summer from start to finish, including floor installation, cabinets, waiting for templating of counter top, all lighting and door installations.  And though I can't say it was "painless", Kepner made it as smooth as possible.  About the only improvement I could suggest is that of cleanup.  We were left responsible for tidying up during the process and finally at the end as well. I would have liked to see a bit more professionalism there.  Even though the large scale trash removal was included, there was an additional pickup required at the end as there were some more large items that needed to be removed.  We paid separately for that. A nice touch would have been to include it. Also the quantity of flooring material was overestimated and so we were left with significantly more flooring material than we required.  And were unable to negotiate a reasonable cost of return.  We are hanging on to it and can almost do another full (small) room!  All that said we were very pleased with the quality of the workmanship and the responsiveness of the Kepners.  Mark worked very hard and we are truly grateful.  And in the final analysis I must say, we just LOVE our new kitche.   I would definitely hire them again! <br />"

"The painting looks wonderful. One bedroom needed a lot of patch work done (teenage girl did a number on in hanging posters, etc). You can't see a thing. It looks like brand new sheet rock. Cutting in with an accent wall is perfect. Both baths are great too. In the laundry room, the paper was going to be removed. After consulting another person who does drywall, it was decided the paper had been put up on unsized walls. So, rather than gouge the sheetrock necessitating a lot of repair, they decided to skim the seams, prime it and paint over it. You would never know the paper is even there. Cabinets in that room were also painted. The workers were respectful of our time, courteous and reliable. We had an emergency with a flooded basement when they were here and they worked around it to get the job done. I would def recommend them and will use them again in the future. <br />"

"If you want a mediocre job, then Jeff from Cabinet Doctor, aka Cabinet Refacing, is your man. Jeff misjudged the measurement height of the new countertop which left old caulking on the wall. Luckily, I need to repaint the kitchen. Where the countertop and backsplash meet was not caulked completely, and I am unsure if the base of the faucet was caulked. The quartz countertop from Geovanny Granite and Marble is flawed with dust specks and swipe marks under the finish. And the seam was not properly sealed. Geovanny tried to fix it, but he made it worse."

"I'd had a evaluation and estimate from Exterior Solutions and after then not having received a call back or return email (the inspector had also pulled a loose single from my roof leaving it exposed) I went back to Angie's List. T&T came up, noting it had a good rating, I called. Dave and a colleague arrived, evaluated the roof and offered to repair it free of charge. Still blown away by this. A member of their crew arrived yesterday and did this; apparently they've ended up correcting other work done by Exterior Solutions and they only wanted the good will rating for the work. Incredibly nice and very professional."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Duanesburg, NY

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
