"Thank you to JM Inc. for the excellent work they did on replacing a fireplace with an outstanding stone mason one. They also put in a 3 season porch, patio, and cement garage apron. All were done professionally with constant communication on progress and asking for feedback. You can count on them to show up on time and keep on track. They also did a great job of cleanup and keeping the house clean while working on the project. A big thanks to project manager Kyle, mason Shawn, Trent and carpenter Thomas. We are very happy with the job professionally done."

"The folks from AJ's were responsive and return my call the next day. They sent someone out at my convenience, he was prompt, friendly, and professional. <br /> They worked up a design and a quote for me in the next two days. I did give them a and quot;Band quot; grade in responsiveness not because they are slow, but because they do everything by postal mail instead of e-mail which added a few extra days. The quote and design was sent via postal mail and the deposit for the work needed to be sent by postal mail. <br /> The price was on the high side, but they did give me options for elements that I could change to lower the overall price. <br /> After I had ordered the work done I found out suddenly that I would be moving! I called in a panic that I needed to get the work done fast (so as to help me sell my house) or to cancel. They ran around, found a few substitute plant choices, and were able to get the work done in the next couple of days. Very impressive. <br /> The work itself is beautiful and of high quality, it matches the quoted design exactly. I have had the landscaping for over a month now and all the plants appear to be thriving. <br /> I'm a happy customer. <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Duluth, MN

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
