"We called Ace Radon because the reviews were really good. They told us that it might take awhile to get someone out for a quote. We asked to be put on a waiting list and they called a few days later saying they had an opening. The quote was about half of what we were told to expect from our realtor and Ace Radon told us that they use only professional grade radon reduction to ensure the lowest level is present. They came out and installed it a short while later. We were able to inspect the work before they asked for payment. They also gave us a free radon test kit at the end to send in for analysis to an independent lab to check their work. "

"<br /> What was so great that he offered a whole service packed which includes radon and water tests. That helped us a lot since we heard that radon is a delicate topic here in Colorado. He recommended us also other professions to solve the discovered problems. <br /> <br /> Overall we really trust Nate and will hire him again for our next project! <br />"

"I called the number and gave rough estimate of the job.  A cost estimate was provided for the standard reduction task.  The technician arrived as scheduled and completed the work within a few hours.  We went for color matching which made the outside pipe look much better against the background of the house.  Radon reading went from greater than 9 to less that 2 within a week.  A separate monitor I bought has shown the levels to be below 2.4 since installation.  Overall, we are very satisfied with the radon reduction system. <br />"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"My wife and I did quite a bit of research before selecting our inspector.  With a lack of knowledge of the Durango, CO inspectors, we selected Four Corners Inspection Service Inc. because Holly was an ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) Inspector as well as being certified to inspect FHA and VA homes. <br /> Holly did a fantastic job.  We used her services (home inspection and radon test) for two different properties.  During the first house inspection, Holly uncovered some foundation issues that the owner did not want to resolve.  She definitely saved us future problems/issues.   <br /> Holly was extremely responsive and thorough.  The inspection report was very detailed but at the same time "readable."  In addition, Holly was always available to provide further clarification and answer any questions my wife and I had about each of the properties being inspected.  My wife and I have read a number of home inspections and we find Holly's work to be a step above the rest.   <br /> Please note that she is a little more expensive than the other possible inspectors in Durango or even Farmington.  However, for us, it was money well spent. <br />"

"There were a few issues, but overall i am very pleased. They kept having to come back to fix things, some of the workers they sent were temps so they had to redo a couple things. They had to reseal the plastic bag under my house as well. They also warrantied their work to have to radon levels down under 2, and at first the radon level was above 2. They cam back and fixed the problem ,the radon level is around 1.9 now. They also replaced the low voltage fan with a high voltage to bring down the levels of the radon. I was not real happy with the fan, it ran through the garage into the house and i can hear it very clearly at night. <br /> <br /> They were attentive and listend to my concerns . They were great at coming back and fixing things they did not do right the first time. They have 3 very qualified employees who were great to work with. They are trustworthy and their price was fair. The job was somewhat complicated, so i thought the price was right. I would highly recommend them."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Durango, CO

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
