"Fowler lawn and pest service recommended CJ to me. He does weekly mowing and spring and fall clean ups. I have also used him for planting bushes and putting up a stockade fence. He does excellent work and is very dependable. We have used him for past two years and will be using him next year too."

"For the most part, they're easy to work with, responsive, etc. They show up, get the job done, bill promptly, etc. The only thing standing between them and an overall A grade is that several times they have started service earlier than we wanted and/or continued beyond when they were supposed to stop. I believe it was simply miscommunication (and it takes two for that, so I may have been partially a cause) and NOT a question of dishonesty/padding, etc.

It happened several times over the years, but to their credit, when I called to question it, they removed the charges immediately, without any quibbling. The office seems to run smoothly and efficiently; they're friendly and responsive all the time.

I have no plans to shop this service elsewhere, despite the company's having changed hands recently. Under the new owner, they called this year about whether I wanted an additional service -- lawn aeration -- and didn't push back when I declined. Wasn't thrilled with the call -- we've been using them for years without aerating the lawn -- but it's a legitimate business-building practice, so no points deducted for that.
New ownership seems determined to "stay the course" with this longtime successful business, and that's smart. I'm also considering some sprucing up and plantings, and I'd be strongly inclined to use them for that, assuming their plan and prices sound reasonable. The new owners seemed to get it that because it's an investment property, we don't want to spend a fortune on cosmetics; the proof will come when he makes a proposal.

I didn't grade them on price because I don't know how their mowing prices compare with others'. We started using them when we bought 11 years ago and have seen no reason to take our business elsewhere.
Overall: very solid, responsive company. Worth doing business with."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in East Orleans, MA

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
