"<p>Charlie helped us design built-in cabinets/book case unit for living room, floor to ceiling.  Then he built,  painted and installed.  IT WAS AMAZING!  Charlie was on-time, and had great ideas.  We thought we knew  exactly what we wanted and Charlie was happy to oblige but also offered some new ideas based on his experience and expertise that made the whole thing better- he is smart and professional and he really knows his stuff.  We are very demanding and Charlie met all our expectations.  He matched our existing crown moulding  and baseboard moulding and paint perfectly.  The finished product was GORGEOUS, exactly how we had hoped, and the price was reasonable.  His project I think adds tremendous value to our house.  He even gave us an extra baseboard trim in another part of the LR at no charge. There was one small item that was overlooked in the install and Charlie came back within 2 days at our convenience to fix it, no questions asked.   We would hire him again in a heartbeat.  </p> <br />"

"Working with iKitchens Etc was extraordinary. I know on one level that they are busy, and yet our experience was that we never had a hint that we weren't their only customer. From our perspective, the world centered on us, the team arrived every day on schedule, we could set our clocks by them and their work was meticulous. <br /> <br />Design phase: I had specific ideas about what I wanted but difficulty explaining it. Lou Ann was able to design a perfect suite of the Ikea cabinets I wanted and build in the right type of drawers in the right spots so everything is very easy to use, well lit and spacious. I trusted her experience in materials and design on a lot of things like lighting, plumbing fixtures in kitchen and bath, advice on flooring and counter, etc. and am very happy with her selections. <br /> <br />Demolition phase: We had a wall taken down, carpet and vinyl flooring removed, old cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, appliances and a gas fireplace removed and hauled away. It was noisey, but their plastic barrier wall held up and we suffered no dust issues. They vacuumed well daily and kept a clean job site. Every evening as they left, we were left with a safe and clean first floor site. The outdoor area around their hauler was neat and we had no complaints from our neighbors. <br /> <br />Building phase: Throughout, the carpenters, plumber, electrician and painter were very skilled and professional. We did run into some surprises: They found very uneven floor joists and had to take up bad underflooring then sister the joists throughout to make a flat underfloor for our new wood flooring. Also, after taking out the old gas fireplace we found the old chimney chase was leaking and we had to have roofing done (not by iKitchens, though they did coordinate and worked along on other things while waiting for roofing to complete. Because they were able to adjust and work on other parts of the project while waiting for roofers, we stayed on schedule despite having to do a lot of unanticipated joist work and arrange for a new roof. <br />At certain points we turned to the lead carpenter for a little artistic work, asking him to put together boards for the woodwork around our doors to match what I found in a photo - and are extremely happy with what he came up with. His skilled solutions and eye for design were perfect for our project. <br />The first part of thenkitchen I knew I had to have was a specific artsy stained glass tile for the backsplash. The tiles weren't consistent, would show any bubble that might be behind them and wouldn't be easy to install, but sometimes you just fall in love with a design. iKitchens has meticulous master tilers who installed those tiles so well they make my heart sing every time I walk in the door. <br /> <br />Communication and scheduling: The project manager planned out and tracked the schedule, decisions, conversations all in a central system which we had login access to online. We could and did reach out with any questions or requests through this system and always got a good answer or solution quickly. They also answered phones or returned all calls promptly. The onsite workers arrived early and reached the day's goal, we knew exactly what to expect for the coming week and while they were able to flex plans if we needed they stuck to schedule and met every goal. The office stays on top of every small detail, all we had to do was choose material and write checks. Easy! <br /> <br /> It was a long 10 weeks but I'd do it again easily and wouldn't change anything - especially our choice to bring in iKitchens. <br /> <br />"

"We contracted with Stephan to remodel our main bathroom. We had the bathroom stripped down to the guts. New walls, ceiling, vanity, bathtub, tiling, ceiling fan, closets, medicine cabinets, toilet, and painting. Stephan helped us with our design, did all the stripping down of the old bathroom, put up new walls, ceiling, and tiles, then installed all the new bathroom items and painted the walls. We were so happy with the first bathroom that we contracted with Stephan 3 months later to do our smaller master bathroom as well. Now we have both of those bathrooms modernized and it has made a big positive different in our home. Stephan is very professional and does very good work."

"I have now had 4 pickups from this company. Each time it has been with different items: I have had my kitchen remodeled,  a deck torn down and rebuilt, a new roof put on, old fencing disc arded, and a yard cleanup. The only difference in pricing was for the roofing and even though ti was more money it was STILL CHEAPER than a dumpster!!! I don't know how these guys do it, but they pickup on time, without issue andfor the cost quoted. I have turned each of my contractors onto them - now they are using them. SO MUCH cheaper and better service than any dumpster company I have used!"

"I found George via Angie's list several years back when I was looking to do my bathroom over. He got such great reviews on Angie's list I had him come to my house to give me an estimate. He was very accommodating, polite, punctual, and of the 3 quotes I received he was the least expensive. He did a wonderful job on my bathroom. After the work was done there were a few adjustments that needed to be made so I emailed him the issues and he came right out soon after to make the adjustments. When I needed new windows I again got several quotes and George again came back with the best one. He did a great job installing my windows with no issues since. In April I had him install a glass sliding door, which he had to bust out 2 double hung windows (5 ft in width) and cut out the wall to accommodate a 6-ft slider. At the same time he built a set of temporary wooden stairs that can be used to go into the backyard from the slider. Again, he did a wonderful job. I trust his opinion, feel safe with and trust him in my house (I have no problem not being in the house while he's there), always will use him in the future knowing the way he works and how he treats his customers, and always recommend him to people who are looking for work done in their homes. In addition to doing quality work, he was great at problem-solving if any issues arose, always cleaned up before he left for the day, and was always respectful and nice to me and my 2 young kids. If he saw a little thing around my house that needed fixing (one that was completely separate from what he was hired to do, such as cleaning up the bad caulking around my sink and fixing a door jam) he would just take care of it and not expect any money for doing it. He is a genuinely nice man. The men he brought with him to do the work were always very nice and I never had any issues. The men he contracted out (electrician and man who laid my new bathroom tile floor) did great work and also very nice. With all the work I had done, for any materials/windows/cabinets that weren't delivered to my house, he would pick up for me. I highly recommend him with complete confidence."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in East Greenwich, RI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
