Customers say: Super punctual

"Working with L&L was a very positive experience.  They were professional and responsive throughout the entire process.   A previous contractor failed to properly flash the chimney when he  installed a metal roof.  As a result, a signification amount of water was coming into the building. L&L fixed this issue in a timely matter and the quality of work was excellent. In addition, they were conscientious about cleaning the yard and building when they completed the task.

"I highly recommend Sammy's Masonry. The owner and his crew are very professional. I had a major stone wall fall on my property and his crew worked consistently until the job was finished. I didn't have to worry about the owner switching between jobs. And the quality of work was outstanding. I can highly recommend Sammy's Masonry to anyone in Connecticut looking for top shelf masonry work, sidewalks, paint, stucco, landscaping and construction."

"3 Son’s Siding & Gutters LLC did my roof about four months ago. They came and gave me a price that was more than fair…3 Son’s were very professional, work very safely. They stripped two layers, found that they had to get plywood and replace the whole roof, it was a bit more but they did the plywood, re-shingled the roof in the one day.i was very impressed with the way all the workers did what needed to be done. The job was done in a day and a half, all the mess was picked up went around the house with magnets picking up all the nails. All I can say I believe they are very professional, very concerned about how my property was left I think it was cleaner than when they started.Very good crew did a great job couldn’t be any happier. Great crew very professional!!!! Thanks for all your hard work.Al Couture Southwick Mass."

"It could not have gone better. They arrived when they said they would, finished when they said they would and cleaned up all the debris. While they were working on the roof they found several 4x8 sheets of plywood that were severely damaged and replaced them with no impact on the timeline. Similarly, he discovered that the last contractor who worked on the roof installed tin flashing around the chimney instead of lead, and replaced the tin with lead. This required removing much of the siding near the chimney and reinstalling it after the flashing had been finished. This is the second major project Roger and his Thermalfit team have completed for us, and we will never use any other company for major work on our house."

"Craftsman! EXCELLENT! There were only a few workers supervised and they were relatively quiet. Finished the roof in one day. Looks good even after the winds last night. A pleasure to deal with and have working here. It looks like he also repaired the leaks from another new roof by a DIFFERENT company who couldnt seem to get it fixed. What a relief! Again, THANK YOU!!"

"Sergie, from Alliance Home Improvement, arranged a convenient time to discuss the Energy Star windows that we purchased through Angie's List. Sergie extended the deal price to all of our windows which came to 11 windows. Back in December, we had an Energy Audit to determine the areas we may be losing heat in the house. The windows and the kitchen entry door were the main issues. We told Sergie about the kitchen door and we wanted to replace it. Sergie told us to go to Home Depot and pick out the door, pay for it and he will install it for free. On January 31, Sergie and his 2 workers arrived on the mutually agreed day and began immediately installing the windows. Sergie went to our Home Depot and picked up the kitchen door. The 2 workers were very professional, quick and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner when they finished installing 11 windows and removing the old kitchen door and installing the new kitchen door.. We could not be more pleased with the work and the price. We would highly recommend Alliance Home Improvement! They were thorough, punctual and great to work with!"

"Fantastic! Dave Brodowski and his crew were professional and friendly. They worked long hours to get the work done. Dave and his crew removed the old shingles, placed a coating on the bare roof, and put down new shingles. They cleaned up multiple times each day. They used a remote cart with an extendable slide. Dave let us know about any issues with the bare roof. The new roof looks fantastic! I would recommend them to anyone."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in East-windsor-hill, CT

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
